(haipo) - Moshe Statman, the former deputy mayor, passed away at the age of 93. In 2016, Moshe Statman received the title "Dear Haifa"
His funeral was held this evening (Monday, 27/3/2023) at 21:15 PM at Sde Yehoshua Cemetery, Shaar Rosh.
Stetman was known for his public and dedicated work and his extensive and blessed activity for all the residents of Haifa, especially the dissemination of Israel's heritage and religious education.
In all his public positions and especially in his work at the Haifa Municipality, for many years as a member of the Haifa City Council, a member of the municipal administration, as well as for 14 years, during which he held the position of Deputy Mayor, Stetman worked extensively to promote the religious way of life, assisting in the construction of synagogues and mikvahs, Torah lessons and more.
Stetman led the religious community in Haifa to impressive achievements, including: the establishment of the "Yavna" school and community center in Kiryat Shmuel, the granting of tax and fee concessions to synagogues, youth movements and educational institutions, the transformation of the quiet beach in Bat Galim into a separate bathing beach for men and women, and more.
Stetman always found a way to be involved, compromise and bridge between communities, positions and opinions and finds time for everything and anything. All this in a good spirit and with an endless willingness to help and assist as much as is required. His connecting, supportive and sharing personality radiated to his surroundings and created a pleasant and friendly work environment.
Mr. Stetman received a lot of appreciation and admiration from all the circles in the city, he built bridges with his language, the language of sages that sounds easy, while quoting rich words of Torah and wisdom, which bring the hearts closer.
For many years the late Moshe Shattman lived on Geula Street in the Bahadar HaCarmel neighborhood and later moved to Masada Street. He had recently been ill and his condition had deteriorated in recent days.
Yona Yahav sent a message to Lahi Fa - the news association:
I just got back from the funeral. The day of Moshe Statman's death is symbolic; When in the streets of the country along its length there are signs of separation and division, we bring to eternal rest the symbol of union and interpersonal inclusion. There are no public figures of his kind today.
Of blessed memory.

The late Moshe Stuman was a reserve with me for many years... a smart and intelligent man, educated and honorable, talking to him was an extraordinary experience.
Mourning his passing
barren man modest. Doing good deeds...from the generation of the past, the one that disappeared and never came back.
