A sad ending: a young man died in tragic circumstances, his body was found a week later

"We tried to help, maybe we could have done more.."

A sad end to a sad story: a guy in his 30s ended his life in the storage room of his apartment on Hillel Street. The apartment was owned by his father, in his 70s, who did not live in it after a fire broke out in the apartment about a year ago, which completely destroyed it.

"His mental state has deteriorated"

One of the people who tried to help the father and son is the nephew: "Father, mother and son lived in the house until the mother passed away in 2019. They lived on Hillel Street in Hadar. The son is 34 years old and the father is 73. The son entered into a crisis after the mother died. About a year ago, the apartment on Hillel Street returned The father and son lived there, it was completely burned down. Apparently the fire happened due to a short circuit. My uncle had no insurance, and he had no possibility to renovate the apartment and make it livable. The welfare department placed my uncle in a nursing home in Kiryat Eliezer. All this time, I and other friends tried to restore the house. We turned and asked for help, but they didn't help. The son wandered here and there and in the end it became clear to us that during this year he slept in the warehouse of the apartment that burned down, or he slept on the streets. He was offered housing from the municipality, but he refused.

"It's the little things that break people"

Last Thursday (16/3/23) they found him... his mental state deteriorated greatly and it must have been a week before they found him. One of the neighbors found it, when they smelled it."

"My uncle left the nursing home, but only after two weeks he could see his family doctor. It took two weeks to release his paperwork just so he could see a doctor at the health fund. For two weeks he was lying at home in pain, and he couldn't see a doctor. These are the things The little ones who break the people."

How do you explain what happened?

"It's a failure of many factors. Ours, the family too. Maybe we could have done more, even though we tried very hard. I tried to ask my cousin how he was and how he was doing, but he didn't tell or share anything. They should have checked what was going on with him... A social worker should have come and seen what was going on. An incident happened here, and it needs to be addressed."

"My uncle got tired of the old people's home and he moved back to the house. We restored the electricity to his apartment, but the house does not look good. There is almost no furniture. His bedroom was almost undamaged, so he can sleep there, but the rest of the house is a catastrophe."

"My son needed therapy"

The father of the deceased boy agreed to address the tragic case, even though he was during the swearing-in: "The municipality is to blame for what happened to my son, they didn't handle the issue properly. My son needed treatment. I would have expected them to come to the house more and check how he is doing," he says.

"I'm now back living at home. The house was destroyed because of the fire, we painted my bedroom, but everything around is full of soot and broken. I have no choice. In the old people's home they took all my money, and I'm left with 500 NIS per month. I couldn't manage like that. That's why I returned to live at home despite his condition."

The municipality's response will be attached to the article when received.

  1. so sad
Who are these evil welfare people who knew about the situation and went home to sleep in peace
God will pay them for the evil of their hearts

    • Pure malice and a flat mind...
He that sheds man's blood, in man his blood shall be shed.

  2. People are too crunchy for this hard country. Inhuman bureaucracy everywhere. No minister came to facilitate and bring about a system change. They deal with governance and not with improving the lives of citizens

  3. It really was an unfortunate incident and apparently the 34-year-old man was in a difficult state of mind after his mother's death. But he was offered a place to live and the cousin offered help, and this is not a small child or a teenager. In my opinion, when a person decides to commit suicide there is nothing that can help, at this point it is already too late. The help should have been when the mother passed away and her condition began to deteriorate. very sad Take care of the father.

    • In any case, I feel very negligent to simply raise my hands and not back up, at least after the man refused the apartment that was offered to him.
This is a humiliating belittlement and also doubt borderline intelligence resulting from a basic lack of understanding of the profession and of people.

  4. so sad. Why didn't the neighbors help?
    Everyone would buy, do something.
    Together it is possible.
They would give him a chance to live.
    really sad
Take the father and take care of him immediately.

  5. Since childhood, I have never allowed myself to break down: not in the face of severe boycotts in my community, not in the face of risks in Lebanon, not in the face of disappointing novels and not in the face of vile, exploitative and hypocritical employers - never! I will admit and say that my threshold of sensitivity is high and I am very aware of harming others such as physical violence/sexual abuse of children or women and of course for manifestations of racism against our Ethiopian brothers!!!
I'm sorry that the man ended his life this way...
I was not ashamed and did not hesitate to contact
to Mentally for a lot of conversations, to pour out the heart in a sea of tears
My disintegrated family did not provide me with any support, unfortunately. Today, thank God, I am a happy person on the whole and try to radiate only good to the environment... and again thank God that I was blessed with a loving, sympathetic, beautiful and united environment in my current family.

  6. A welfare state gone from the world!
Shame and shame on Bibi and all the politicians who make a fortune at the expense of the poor and the people in general

    • And wish you were connecting certain people with a tragic case of another certain person And wish you were connecting certain people with a tragic case of another certain person

When there is no connection between the persons acting.

If today Netanyahu is not prime minister - starting tomorrow, will no more citizens die in the city?
Learn where to point the finger because otherwise you're literally shooting yourself in the foot

  7. Excellent article, we need to learn from this very difficult story, and of course it is sad that the Ministry of Social Affairs is not sufficient to respond to many similar cases

  8. Peace
Why would the mayor respond? Why, if it was about her drunkenness or her conditions, you should be ashamed of yourself, you are disgusting, you have destroyed everything in this city, how do you sleep at night, why don't you yourself supervise the departments that you are, Madam Mayor, you are the only one responsible for this failure

  9. The truth hurts and it's really true, they threw the guy and his family on the boards like in most cases in Israel. Citizens who pay taxes and work in the country all their lives don't care at all, but to distribute money left and right the members of the Knesset know what is good. Just a shame to hear such things.
The National Insurance also puts citizens in debt without too much detail in the calculation made for the debtor, I will answer with now the National Insurance has come to the right conclusion that you owe it money and you receive an allowance they automatically put you in debt and even though you ask and demand information how was the debt calculation carried out? There is no way that Israel's National Insurance will receive this information.
It does not discriminate that the situation in a weak population is a situation of poverty.

  10. Unbelievable how much indifference to the factors that are supposed to help and care for these two people as well, and the municipality itself. Their aim is to save on work for which everyone knows very well how to get paid.

  11. Terrible. Burning down a house is a tragedy, we went through it two and a half months ago, and if it wasn't for a huge help from everyone around us (and from the Creator of the world who surrounds us with great kindness), I don't know where we would be today.

    • Anyone who feels depressed, should see a family doctor. There are excellent pills that help within two weeks. Continue until the doctor gives an order to dilute the dose and then stop. Too bad to neglect.

    • All the pills known today were developed based on the monoamine hypothesis for depression which not only has never been verified,
but has also been refuted numerous times since then.

There are pills for anxiety and panic disorders, spasticity and in general for the whole OCD family, it's not the same.
You won't need them, have a good day.

  12. How can you help the father?? We will be happy to come and paint the apartment and help with the restoration of the house. I would appreciate the details

  13. Where is the local press that is busy 24/7 with pigs instead of the nightmare that humans go through without being able to get help?
Where are the members of the council who fuck their brains over all the nonsense and get in trouble
To deal with the real things, the real work.
Where is the council member from Likud? from the greens? Make noise on every tree
And here under the head are dead people?

    • She doesn't contact anyone, doesn't report, and doesn't even bother to think about what she wants to write before she presses enter.

The people here don't deserve their livelihood just like the municipal employees,
At least we don't pay them.

  14. Now the father was created alone after the nursing home took all his money 😢😡
Now there is 500 NIS left per month....
    It's sad what's happening...
Even with the reform it will take another decade in the meantime people die and lose their money and live in disgrace😡😡🙏

  16. Greetings
How sad I am for my dear brother..
    A terrible tragedy.
And now I ask for the full attention to my brother Eliyahu in providing adequate medical care..first of all.
and in the urgent restoration of the house so that he can live in adequate conditions
So please whoever can lift a glove with help, may the blessing come upon him.
I am his sister who has been widowed for 13 years and who like me knows how life alone is unbearably difficult. My husband got cancer.
Please take the above case seriously

  17. Our funds are going to the wrong places. Instead of welfare, mental health it goes to thieves in the government, money to the ultra-Orthodox and the settlements.... Why do we pay taxes the hell does the state take and give them to politicians who steal and steal and distribute them to associates and world trips??? lawlessness!

    • My ultra-Orthodox mothers in the city pay more property tax than the pensioners of Savioni Dania and Savioni Carmel My ultra-Orthodox mothers in the city pay more property tax than the pensioners of Savioni Dania and Savioni Carmel

who get a 90% discount while their pension feeds the whole city another day.
The ultra-Orthodox both enlist and work.

2006 called - she asks why you are still there and who came to pick you up

    • The two should not be confused - they are guilty along with the family and other factors, and at the specific level they failed and committed a crime in their role.

A person who has chosen this work as a profession and earns a living from it but does not fulfill his role in the best way is dangerous to the weak public who cry out for his help.

  18. He doesn't have insurance. You made me laugh. Shame on you. The insurance companies suck us all and they make billions. What would happen to them if they opened their wallets?

  19. The country and its city are filthy. No one cares about them!!!!!! If he doesn't have me, who does he have????

  20. It's sad to hear this excitement with the municipality, she would have taken care of the welfare and he wouldn't have committed suicide. It's a shame that such an act should be called because anyone would have committed suicide in the situation of the burnt house. Shame on the welfare and the municipality that they caused the death of a young man who took it upon himself and decided to commit suicide for the welfare and the municipality, the justice he receives because they They will receive this punishment because a human being must not decide to take death upon himself only Father in Heaven decides but you are guilty the Creator of the world will judge the guilty

  21. Garbage of a country..they don't help in anything and not really to those who need it

  22. Shame on the state and the municipality for neglecting the heartbroken residents like this

  23. Good Deeds Day - remember?
All the lovely welfare department and the wonderful neighborhood committee needed was to publicize the case and contact organizations and people who would help with the renovation of the apartment. Did they do this little? Someone from the welfare department, whose chairman is the municipal workers' committee, is just bragging that he got them another seniority bonus and another attached car - will any of them respond? Will any of them resign for the omission? Does the public know who runs the welfare department? Will the mayor or the council members investigate the case? Will anyone bother to find out How many more cases like this are there? Will someone bother to find out if it is possible to help the father who lost his apartment and now his son?
    Open questions in the air…

  24. They always blame and don't show the neglect of the family. Not everything needs the welfare authorities to solve problems. There are solutions to such situations. You need cooperation and... a lot of running. God helps those who help themselves (I don't believe it. But the meaning is clear)

  25. terrible. All to help make an apartment livable. Where is human dignity? disgrace

  26. The main thing is to take money they know in this country but to help you have to chase them shame really it breaks the heart to hear such things

    • I would love to come and clean my father's house, can someone give me details of where he lives????

  27. Sad, very sad!
Urgent reference of authority and welfare and an adequate response is required

  28. shocking. We understand why a deep reform is needed in the entire public service. Reform of the welfare departments. Reform of the courts. Reform in the protection of women. Reform of the police work. We have reached the worst possible and the main thing is in the happiness index with terrorist attacks and non-functioning municipalities we are 4th in the world so I said that at least all these can no longer participate in such a survey..not the victims of the lack of welfare. Not the victims of the terrorist wave. Not victims of domestic violence. or men who are being ignored and abused by the relief services. Not hundreds of car accident victims.. just great happiness 4th place in the world.

    • This is not the reform that the members of the government are trying to do.. Their reform has nothing to do with the citizens really, but with a lust for control and an interest in doing well for themselves.. It's a shame you mix and confuse...

  29. I would be happy to receive details of the father/contact person on behalf of the family, as a member of Artem's content and I will volunteer for the renovation and I will be happy to recruit more people for this,

    • Hello, I have details, I will try to contact the family tomorrow to check what the father's needs are

    • All the best to you, I would be happy to come and help clean the house, which city is this???

  30. An extremely tragic case, why is everything published after it's too late, many factors could have helped the poor son and the unfortunate father, how indifferent people can be!

  31. You left the hand of the municipality and the welfare authorities. It is very unfortunate that a man who fought in the Yom Kippur war and contributed to the state did not receive the minimum from the state. Wake up. There are still many boys and young people who do not have a home and family support.

  32. Really shocking....Now I have to help my father....
I am passing on the news to the necessary authorities. Amen, they will help!!!

  33. Where are the comments? ! Egoistic people only for themselves!
    where are the neighbors !

    • What do you volunteer the neighbors? There is a limit to what housekeepers can do. Everyone has problems, you know.

    • Good morning and good month
      Thanks to all the responders
Those who are interested in helping with the restoration of the apartment or any other help
