Haifa separates from 'Tikatak' • The decision of the Ministry of Transport

(I live here with public transport) - The public transport service 'Tikatak' will end its activity on 20/3/23, as stated by the Ministry of Transport. Although the service did not meet the goals of the Ministry of Transportation, many users found it to be a very convenient service at good prices.

The residents of the city are now signing a petition calling on Sarah Miri Regev to continue her service in the city.

As a reminder, the "Titak" service in Jerusalem and its counterpart "Bavel" in Tel Aviv were already canceled in December 2022, this after, according to the Ministry of Transportation, they did not meet the pilot goals set for them. In Haifa, the service continued to operate and it even seemed that it was gaining momentum and the demand among the users was increasing, but today (Sun. 12/2/23) as mentioned, the Ministry of Transportation announced that the service will also stop in Haifa, for the same reasons.

The Ministry of Transportation informed Lahi Pa:

"The "Titak" minibus service will end its operations in Haifa on March 20, 2023. This is after the service did not meet the pilot goals set for it by the Ministry of Transportation.

It should be noted that on December 31, 2022, the "TikTik" service was discontinued in the city of Jerusalem, after the Ministry of Transportation decided not to extend the experimental service under the high subsidy conditions that were required to operate the service.

The data of the National Public Transportation Authority in the Ministry of Transportation shows that the low numbers of passengers in the "Tik Tak" service in Haifa are far from meeting the goals set for Egged. This, alongside a high subsidy level of tens of percent per passenger.

After no outline was presented that would ensure compliance with the service's goals without expanding the subsidy, the Ministry of Transportation decided not to extend the pilot and to use the resources allocated to it to improve the public transportation service through other channels."

The company 'Egged' stated:

"Following the Ministry of Transportation's decision to stop the Tiktok service in Jerusalem in December 2022, the Ministry of Transportation announced the end of the pilot in Haifa as well. We are preparing in accordance with the Ministry's decisions. The service in the city will stop on 20/3/2023.

Egged's Tiktok service was launched as an innovative technology-based pilot for personalized collaborative transportation in the city of Haifa, three years ago. Egged joined the Ministry of Transportation's innovative pilot, believed in it and put a lot of effort into its success. Egged Tiktak was designed to be an alternative means of using a private vehicle and complementary to public transportation. The pilot began operating during the challenging Corona period and faced and succeeded in many challenges. It won great sympathy in Haifa. It recruited loyal customers who enjoyed the service. At the end of the first year of activity, it was decided to extend the pilot for another year. We thank our partners in the project and the Ministry of Transportation team."

  1. Why is everything that happens in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem attributed to Haifa as well? And this is on the path of negation, because budgets, for example, do not budget for Haifa as they budget for Jerusalem and Tel Aviv...

  2. It is not clear how this service works. To begin with, it was just an illusion and it was clear that nothing came of it, like all the empty promises made by the country's captains. A place that promises life and sustains disappointment

  3. Nooooo
Until there is an excellent transportation solution, I'm sick of the bag, the best invention there is. What's the point of downloading a ticket bag, it's better than a matron, it's better than the cable car, there's no use, there are hours when there are no free tickets because there's a lot of people using them, leave them!!! I decided to be miserable!!!

  4. The title should be "Separate Haifa too" after Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

  5. It's a shame until they bring something good to Haifa and stop it
There are no buses that bring to the destination, you have to take 2 buses
I want to thank all the drivers in the case for their kindness and good attitude,
    It's a shame and a very shame.
Maybe you should think again, this is something good and especially effective for the elderly and school children.

  6. The tick at least from what I saw were vehicles powered by a polluting diesel engine, even though the Haifa area is an area free of diesel vehicles. And if they are not economic, why operate them with an uneconomic subsidy. Maybe the decision is right. . And why do you need such a huge vehicle to take one or two people. that they check the possibility of shuttles in the neighborhoods. and free from air pollution.

  7. True, too bad. But 2 or 3 passengers an hour each pay 10 shekels, only the driver's salary is 45 per hour or so and another thousands of shekels per month to maintain such a taxi.
If it weren't for the funding from the Ministry of Transport it would probably have been closed after a month

    • So you can raise the price a little. Even a shekel for travel calculated monthly or annually - an additional 10% - will have an effect.
The drivers pay is closer to 37 per hour.
      or change the frequency.

  8. Puck and bass!!!! Pupils, students, young people without a car, and other citizens always eat it, what kind of pilot does the Ministry of Transportation need? Only the population explosion on the roads speaks to him? And "just" convenience doesn't catch on?

  11. Anyone who understands anything about mass transit knew that these ventures would fail because they are low capacity. In fact taxis with a subsidy that has no justification.
Instead a pilot was needed to shuttle from the neighborhoods to the axis of the ridge so that they would not need a car. Instead of waiting 15-20 minutes during rush hours for a bus that will be an internal minibus in the neighborhood that will pass every 5 minutes and will not leave it, a circle will pick up and drop off passengers with a natza instead of parking on the Aliya roads so as not to stand in traffic jams... But which mayor has the courage to try such a thing?

    • So instead of canceling continue to activate in a smarter format.
In Ramat Eshkol, for example, there is a single line, 29. To get from the neighborhood to other areas you have to trust him or walk (if possible) to Freud.
Or line 24 is elevated to the university and vice versa, which stops operating in the evening.
To concentrate more in areas where public transport does not provide a solution, in short.
      and save changing buses.

    • Well, the neighborhoods will answer, but their frequency is not high enough and then there is no coordination with the hours of their other lines at all, frequency of nothing

  12. Until finally something is right and good for Haifa, then that too is stopped.
Instead of realizing that this service is great for children and the elderly, they look at how oh they didn't make a lot of money.
When money rules the game, no one cares who really loses.
    shame on you!!!!!

  13. Really unfortunate! What's the place?..Prophecy of pigs..like horses..we'll harness them to tuk tuk carts...and the municipality will clean up the poop..because that's what suits it..the audience will get used to it...after all, in history...they know how to use an animal..to help man. ..
    to think…

    • Pity the animals, it's not good to take advantage of them. Apparently only car owners have the right to exist in Israel, after all, they confuse the brain about pollution and environmental quality.

  14. There is a station near me that almost no bus comes to. All other stations are ten minutes away. It really helped that the couple could order a taxi and not a taxi only because the disability makes it difficult for her to walk those 10 minutes.

  15. Buy bicycles and electric scooters, ride on the sidewalks and hit a normal pedestrian is better.

  16. That's how it is, everything that is good for a citizen cancels there are neighborhoods that are difficult for the bus to enter, it must have helped a lot of older people

  17. It's a shame they decided to stop the service. Was efficient and good, reached neighborhoods where the buses rarely come or you need two buses to get there.

    • A stupid and unfortunate decision. Efficient service and it's a shame that the financial consideration is the main factor. A petition should be raised on the subject

  18. It's a very, very bad thing. Public transportation in Haifa is particularly difficult and the connection between neighborhoods is not served by public transportation. Titik's solution provided a partial solution even though it was impossible to commit to an order time...
Until a solution is found, the Ministry of Transportation cancels. shame.
Maybe we can look for a solution that will be worthwhile. Small cars and its trams in order to reduce costs and not outright cancel..

  19. If I'm not mistaken, even in Tel Aviv, which has a strong mayor, Babel was stopped, and in Jerusalem the service was also stopped because it was not economical.

  20. Another mortal blow that is dealt to the residents of Haifa from such an essential service that has only gained more and more success. This can only happen in a city where there is no leadership and the elected officials have no power against the government in all its branches. Haifa is repeatedly hurt and the public is also indifferent and disorganized! , Haifa people have a long memory during election time and the politicians will pay a price for it on the next election day

  21. Alas, until there was one good thing in the HCCA in this city and it provided excellent service, is it really harmful to lower the service in the city, especially the incarcerated scumbags who are still insulting the citizens?

    • The main thing is that the Minister of Transport is talking about improving public transport in the periphery...

  22. such a shame!!
One of the wonderful entrepreneurs that grew here...
    A puzzling decision…
