Saara Barieli: The Israeli-Palestinian Bereaved Families Forum will come to meet the students

(haipo) - Next week an event called "Social Campus on Contemporary Issues in Israeli Democracy" is scheduled to be held at the Reali School in Haifa. The program is intended for 3th grade students and will last for XNUMX days. On the study day that will be held at the school itself, the "Israeli-Palestinian Bereaved Families Forum", which includes Jewish and Arab participants, will take part. In addition to the students' meeting with the members of the forum, there will also be workshops, discussion circles on this day and a lecture.

The students will also watch a stand-up show by the stand-up artist Muhammad Naama, listen to a lecture by the citizenship teacher team, which deals with the civil status of the Judea and Samaria regions, and, as mentioned, will have a meeting with representatives of the Israeli-Palestinian Bereaved Families Forum.

On the other two days of the program, the students will go on a tour of Jerusalem, where they will meet, among other things, Jewish settlers in East Jerusalem, visit the Supreme Court, the Begin Heritage Center and the military cemetery.

"A radical organization that defames IDF soldiers"

The CEO of the Bezalmo organization, Shay Glick, sent an angry letter to the principal of the Reali Beit Biram school, Mandy Rabinovitch, in which he demands that the event be canceled, a representative of human rights organizations be brought from the other side of the political map, or at least allow students who do not identify with the issue The event, not to participate in it.

It should be noted that in the letter Glick makes serious allegations against the forum and explains that his appeal to Rabinovitch is made on behalf of parents and students who are afraid to contact him on the matter themselves.

"We were surprised to hear that you intend to invite the radical and extremist organization to the school - the "Forum of the bereaved families" of terrorists who murdered Jews... the aforementioned forum will lecture to the school students before they are drafted into the IDF. Instead of bringing lecturers who will encourage the wonderful and high-quality youth of the real school In Haifa, you choose to bring an organization that calls IDF soldiers murderers and terrorists and even compares them to terrorists, instead of encouraging them to join the IDF in elite units and reach as high as possible."

Later in his letter, Glick confronts the forum's claim, according to which families of terrorists do not participate in the forum. He cites examples of people who he claims were involved in terrorist activities and whose relatives are members of the organization, even though the Bereaved Families Forum claims that no relatives of terrorists are members. Glick also refers to similar events in which the forum was supposed to participate, which were canceled. One of the canceled events was a planned event at the Yegor school. Glick, who expressed satisfaction with the cancellation, called on the Real School to follow the path of Yagor High School and cancel the planned event.

In another letter sent today, Glick claims that the school requires students to enter the forum lecture. Because of Glick's strong opposition to the forum, he opposes the decision to oblige the students to hear the words.

A letter from "Bezelmo" to the Reali School regarding a meeting of students with the 'Israeli-Palestinian Bereaved Families Forum'

"We are convinced that the event in Reali will take place"

The co-director of the Bereaved Families Forum, Yuval Rahamim, strongly believes in the program that reaches the schools and explains the difficulties the forum faces: "In the past year, we faced two opposing processes. We submitted the program called Dialogue Sessions to the Gefen system tender at the Ministry of Education and were approved. The approval was automatic, the Ministry of Education did not visit each of the 22,000 programs, but each program was accepted conditionally, everyone who met the threshold requirements was accepted. The assumption was that there would be a more careful examination later, if there were difficulties with one of the plans.

Our program receives a very high rating from the customers. The average score the students give us after the session is 95. There were no complaints about the content or the experts. Next year we have to go to the tender again. The new minister of education introduced new conditions, the purpose of which is to prevent us from entering."

"His goal is to scare"

"Shey Glick has an organization called 'Bezalmo', whose goal is to emphasize Jewish supremacy in hospitals and education, exactly the opposite of human rights. He regularly attacks institutions that invite us, with the aim of intimidating them. He tells false stories about the forum, which include lies. For example, the claim we bring families of terrorists to the schools, of murderers, and that we are dealing with the comparison between IDF soldiers and terrorists. In addition, he claims that we do not encourage students to serve and harm their motivation. On the one hand, he is spreading wrong information about our actions, and on the other hand, he is threatening the school principals, who will appeal to the courts and the Ministry of Education for the very fact that they invited us. These are false scares, because we are a legitimate organization."

"The lies have an effect"

"Not only that," Rahamim continues, "but Glick also sets up WhatsApp groups from time to time with students of all kinds of age groups, in which they are literally called on to go against the administration in order to thwart the meetings. That is, there is spreading lies, threats against the school administrations, and the creation of sedition Inside the school. In most cases it doesn't work out for them particularly in schools that have known us for years and the students are satisfied. The Reali managers know us well and there is no concern about having a meeting. But there are schools that don't stand up to the pressure. This is an election year and there is sometimes pressure from the municipality. Of course, the lies influence".

"They lost the most precious of all and want to be agents of peace"

"At a meeting between bereaved families, a relative who bereaved in circumstances unrelated to terrorist activity comes and tells the story of what happened and how it affects him. In the end, these people decided to be agents of peace, even though they lost someone so dear, they still believe in dialogue. Yaakov Arbi He drove a car with his wife and child from Hebron to Nablus. They threw stones at them, and one stone penetrated through the windshield and his wife was killed on the spot. He tried to get to a hospital as quickly as possible. He was questioned all night and then released. The person who threw the stone was caught and is currently on trial. He will be followed for the rest of his life Worked in Israel. He has many Israeli friends. He comes to class and says that he is educating the children to love humanity and peace."

"People believe"

"What can be done if a lie has wings and people believe what they hear? The program imparts educational values, hearing unacceptable opinions, arguing, the students can ask questions and doubt. The students will be in the territories for the first time in their military service. In meeting with us, they will hear about Palestinians and their living conditions. These meetings are of course not mandatory for the students and parents. There is another claim that we are hurting the bereaved families, but we are from bereaved families ourselves."

"Arab and Jewish youth projects in schools are of great significance"

Shai Karmi, an officer in the IDF, was part of a project of Arab and Jewish students as part of her studies at Leo Buck High School: "When I studied at Leo Buck, I was in an excellence project in the field of drones of a company called Mona, which encourages activists to engage in technology.

The project was together with the Orthodox school in Haifa and was conducted in the laboratories of the Leo Buck school. At the end of the joint activity, we approached a competition of operating the drones, in mixed groups. We had to bring a drone that we had created, a drone for all intents and purposes, and we had to explain the obstacles we encountered during the work, How we overcame them and so on.

"It's a city of coexistence, in other cities they don't understand that"

It was a very successful project, when in the conversation there was an attempt to bridge the gaps between us, although we actually did not attach importance to them, we concentrated on technology. Personally, I really enjoyed the project, there was a feeling of partnership and closeness, especially since we were all from Haifa. My friends from other cities don't understand this, but we live in a city of coexistence. The meeting with the Arab youth from the Orthodox school was also very interesting. The Orthodox school is excellent, and we were very impressed by how intelligent the youth there were. Through the scouts I also had several projects with an Arab population and I am very, very much in favor of such projects."

"We strongly believe in joint activity for Jews and Arabs"

CEO of Leo Buck, Ofek Meir: "The Leo Buck Education Center is based on the values of Judaism in all of its operations, but what gives it, in my view, the character of being especially Jewish, is the right to contain within it and as an integral part of it the non-Jewish diversity. Together, we build every day a reality of a community based on partnership , mutual respect and equality. It is important for us not only to get along with each other, but also to celebrate our differences, to grow and flourish from the differences and commonalities between us. In the educational system of the school, religious and secular, reform and conservative Jewish students study, are educated and live alongside dozens of Druze, Christian, Muslim students and in the islands.

"It is not for nothing that the Torah commanded us to love the stranger and treat him with respect - more than any other commandment. 36 times! And the reason for this commandment: because you lived in the land of Egypt. This is a deep and very sensitive Jewish consciousness. I believe it is possible! I know it is possible!

Every year we hold a summer camp for Jewish and Arab children, we operate an orchestra for Arabs and Jews in a project called Tofi Shalom, we operate leadership groups in Haifa and in the north that are shared by Arabs and Jews, a community garden operates in Leu Bak with forty families, twenty Jewish and twenty Arab, the only community garden in Israel that is shared by Arabs and Jews and more and more".

Alliance School held a similar event about a year ago

Eli Debi in the Alliance school square - protest against the Bereaved Families Forum (private album)

"There is no equality between the parties"

It should be noted that in March of last year a similar meeting was held at the Alliance six-year school. Before the meeting there was resentment from a group of parents, but the meeting took place anyway. During the meeting, a demonstration was held by several parents who were happy about the activity. According to them, the idea behind the forum is that there is equality between the Jewish loss and the Palestinian one, an idea they cannot accept.

The reaction of the Reali Hebrew School in Haifa:

"As part of the unique curriculum we developed at Rieli in Haifa, we bring together 12th grade students with different angles that reflect the complexity of life in Israel as a Jewish and democratic country. Among other things - a visit to the Menachem Begin Heritage Center in Jerusalem, a meeting with Jewish settlers in Ras El Amud, a conversation with members of the Bereaved Families Forum as well as with members of "Commanders for the Security of Israel".

As in the past 15 years, this year we are holding the especially important meetings in light of the high rate of recruits from the school which stands at 96.6 percent, many of them in officer positions. We are proud of them and will continue to give them the best starting point for key positions in Israeli society, such as Thousands of our graduates include judges, ministers, chiefs of staff, Israel Prize winning scientists and leading creators. In addition, as part of the high school's democracy seminar that takes place every year, we bring the XNUMXth grade students together with the Bereaved Families Forum."

"The forum is in the program database of the Ministry of Education"

The Ministry of Education responded:
"The Bereaved Families Forum is in the program database of the Ministry of Education on the green route. The program appears in Gefen under the sub-basket - shared life. The school inspector maintains a dialogue with the school to make sure that there is a balance in the programs that the students experience."

  1. Do they also invite rabbis to speak about Judaism?
I feel sorry for the real bereaved families. We need to fight this phenomenon. I would take my child out of such a school

  2. Who is trying to poison our youth in the twelfth grades two months before the draft? Who gives permission to bring into the schools a comparison between the Israeli bereavement and the Palestinian bereavement?
Who even tries to compare a family that is all Israeli to a family member of a terrorist who was neutralized when Asher came to carry out an attack.
Puck gone crazy? Almost 28,000 soldiers gave their lives for the defense of the homeland. Tens of thousands of wounded, wounded from hostilities, hundreds of millions of shekels in compensation for victims of hostilities, widows and orphans, and you are trying to convince me that the memory of that terrorist who came and murdered innocent civilians should be respected, which is equivalent to a soldier who fell in the war for the defense of the homeland?
    are you crazy

  3. This is real? A forum that thinks that calling terrorists freedom fighters is legitimate.. such a forum you invite children?
    You have divided minds.

  4. For the right, even dying is not enough, one has to use her body as a weapon to continue the war until there is nothing left here!

  5. Every family indeed mourns the death of their loved ones, but this is the only thing in common between the families.
The difference is great because on the Israeli side the martyrs who are innocent of any crime are brutally murdered just for being Jews and Israelis in their own country.
On the other hand, those killed on the Palestinian side die due to being anti-Semitic Hayat terrorists.
At the same time, it is indeed rare and unfortunate that Palestinian citizens die accidentally and the Israeli army investigates the cases and knows how to take responsibility and apologize if necessary.
According to the article, what we understand is that the same association acts comprehensively on behalf of all the bereaved families and it is certainly very serious.
To think that the day after tomorrow they will establish an association of the Baruch Goldstein families, etc. and come to lecture in schools.
    What, are we crazy?

  6. It's a pity for the unhappy and painful Jewish families that they turn a fig leaf for the anti-Semitic and inciting Arab propaganda. Behind the beautiful words and the eternal Jewish desire to make a better world hides the endless stupidity of painful Jewish people who do not understand that the fake and invented people are making a cynical political profit on them and continue to blacken and dirty and vilify their Jewish homeland.
    Poor Jews, but stupid
Look reality in the eyes, even if it is painful and bitter
