Did you know that there is a connecting tunnel between Kiryat Eliezer and the Bat Galim train and directly to Bat Galim from the former stadium area?
This tunnel shortens the travel time on foot from Bat Galim train station to Kiryat Eliezer, for train passengers.
Above the tunnel stands the huge ruin of the old central station building which is a dead site that has actually been a very dangerous environmental hazard for many (too) years.
To remind you, this crossing is an area of contention between the old Egged, the railway and the Haifa municipality. Each side claims that the responsibility lies with the other and as usual who suffers the citizen.
But who cares?
As usual for anyone, because we learned that for those responsible for the situation, when they look at a tunnel that mainly serves the weak, the pedestrians, who need public transportation, it is a world that is "not ours belongs to someone else"... the main thing is that I am fine

The Haifa Municipality stated in response to the following:
The tunnel is part of the Egged central station complex built in the 70s. It passes under Hagana Blvd. and connects Kiryat Eliezer, the central station (which has not been active for years) and Bat Galim train station.
Since Egged left the complex in 2000, the tunnel has been neglected and has not been maintained by any entity.
The Haifa municipality took responsibility for the complex [even though it is not owned by it] and restored the tunnel a few years ago.
The work included: Renovation of the lighting system, replacement of light fixtures with anti-vandal fixtures and installation of new protective grilles. Flooring works and wall cladding with tiles resistant to heavy use.
Paint works that included anti-graffiti paint for covering the walls. Renewal of metal frames in the drainage channels along the passage and ventilation openings.
Since the renovation, the municipality has been performing ongoing maintenance on the site, and in this framework, the tunnel lighting is also taken care of.
In a recent inspection at the site, by the manager of the City Improvement Division, as part of the division's preparation for the 2017 work plan, it was decided to carry out additional comprehensive treatment of the tunnel in which defects found at the site will be corrected. In the first stage, a new drainage pump will be installed during the next month, and then they will be treated gradually
Additional deficiencies.
