Children's screening at the Carmel Medical Center is generally excellent
The Children's Emergency Medicine Unit of Carmel Hospital, better known as the children's emergency room, is in first place as the unit that excels in service.
"Our special approach to children and family members, together with personal and professional care for each child, are our recipe for success", said Dr. Muriel Konopaniki, director of the Children's Hospital of Carmel.
In front of hundreds of employees and senior managers in general who gathered and came from all over the country. The Chief Executive Officer of the General Hospital, Mr. Eli Cohen, announced Carmel's children's emergency room as the most outstanding emergency room overall in the field of service. The announcement was made as part of the annual conference and the presentation of the general work plans for 2023, in which Carmel's children's emergency department excelled, as part of the plan for an excellent, adapted, innovative and continuous overall patient experience.
Keren Marom, director of service and patient experience at Carmel, stated that Carmel's children's emergency room was ranked first among 65 emergency rooms in Klalit hospitals. 90% of the parents who were asked said that they felt they were in good hands with the care team and 97% of the parents stated in the survey that they received kind and respectful treatment from the care team in the children's emergency department.
With the reception and treatment of approximately 12,000 children per year from all over Haifa and the north, Carmel's Children's Medical Center is definitely an outstanding and prominent screening center in its field.
For more than 10 years, Dr. Muriel Konopaniki has been working and pushing the children's MD of Carmel to many successes. 3 years ago she completed her additional specialization, in pediatric emergency medicine, and since then serves as the director of the unit and does so with great success.
Dr. Muriel:
"Our team has a special approach to children, adapting individual treatment to each child while involving the parents in all the processes. We take care of detailed explanations and coordination of expectations with the parents and the treated children in order to make the stay in the emergency room short and painless with optimal care for the child and coordinating the continuation of his care in the community."
The person who works alongside Dr. Muriel and is the living spirit of the Children's Medical Center in Carmel, is the talented nursing director of the emergency room for 12 years, Nurse Fatan Zeidan.
Sister Zaidan:
"I like the dynamics of the unit and the ability to be the first to meet the children and help them. For me, nursing has a significant weight in the care of children in the emergency room. All members of our nursing team are trained in basic courses and take care of children in a very professional manner."
Carmel's pediatric emergency room team recently won first place out of all emergency rooms in Israel in the Sim Challenge competition, the national simulation competition in pediatric resuscitation, and has also been leading for a long time with particularly high scores in patient satisfaction surveys in emergency rooms.
The professional staff of the Children's Emergency Department recently joined a new and dynamic force, Dr. Zeev Shenaf, another expert in pediatric emergency medicine, which will add even wider options to the children's emergency department in Carmel and professional care for more hours a day.
The director of the children's department at the hospital, Prof. Giora Filler, congratulated the staff of the Medical Center and said:
"We feel a lot of respect and pride for this win. It is a win based on patient satisfaction criteria, and it is extremely important to us to provide good service and patient satisfaction. This is a medical center that includes a team of senior doctors as well as specialists from the children's department who are on duty at the medical center, and Even with a lack of sleep hours and a huge workload, they manage to demonstrate professionalism, quality, and service. Great pride to the team that managed to win a leading MLR, and I hope that we will continue to do so. The Malrad is being renewed, strengthened, and provides quality service to a large population. With the return of 2 more specialists, we intend to promote the Malrad also for recognition as a specialty."
Keren Marom, the director of the service in Carmel, added and said:
"The achievement is exciting. In the end, a parent comes to the emergency room with the person most dear to them, expecting the staff to show sensitivity, respond to the pain and solve the problem as quickly as possible. Our entire team is focused on the parent and the child. We have introduced and will continue to introduce innovative methods to distract the child , in order for them to cooperate during the treatment. It warms the heart to see that the parents appreciate the efforts and the treatment they receive."
