(Live here - the cost of living) - As part of the price increases in Israel, teachers' salaries also increase. At the Reali School, the parents already pay an amount of 32,500 NIS per school year for a student in middle school, and now the school is asking to raise the tuition by an additional amount, of about 3,000 NIS per student per year. The parents are starting a fight and some say that They will not be able to meet the additional requirement.
As you may remember, in 2017 the Reali School waived funding from the Ministry of Education and paid all tuition costs to the parents.
You can read more about the reasons for the decision and the school's separation from the Ministry of Education here, in the detailed coverage of Chai Fe reporter Michal Yaron from 2017:
At the meeting held this week between the school's management and the parents and their request, which came following the request for the additional payment, the CEO of Hareli, Mr. Yossi Ben Dov, reviewed the process the school went through since 2017, when the Ministry of Education limited the payment it is allowed to collect From parents at a school partially funded by the ministry. The executive committee, in response, led a move that then ended in a separation from the Ministry of Education and a transition to full funding by the parents, in amounts of over NIS 25,000 per year.
Parents present at the meeting told Hai Fa:
"The director general of the school explained that the increase in the amount is due to the increase in teachers' salaries. We are in favor of raising teachers' salaries, but not from our own pockets!
I felt that Yossi Ben Dov seemed to want to say - 'let off steam and we will do whatever we want'. He kept saying - "I understand. I understand, I understand..." as if just to shut up. I didn't feel like there was real listening. The parents told each other and also wrote in the WhatsApp group that there is no real conversation and there is a feeling of bullying.
Some parents claimed that they would be forced to take their children out of school because of the huge financial burden and accused the management of leading the school to become a school only for the rich!' (Here is the place to note that even in 2017 there were parents who abandoned the school due to the burden of payment, which they could not meet. The school management took this abandonment into account then and now).
The parents wish to emphasize that during the discussion, as well as in the discussion in the parent groups, not a word was said against the teachers! On the contrary, the parents respect the teachers very much.
In the end, it was agreed that a salary increase would be frozen until September. During this period, a committee will be established to discuss the issue.
The Reali school responded:
"The status of the real school is defined as of this year (2017) as recognized and unofficial, which is budgeted in accordance with the outline established about five years ago (XNUMX). Starting with the next school year (XNUMX) the elementary school (grades XNUMX-XNUMX) will remain in the status of an unofficial recognized one, but without a budget from the Ministry of Education. However, it is important to note that the school will continue to operate according to the mandatory instructions in the executive director's circular.
We emphasize that the Reali Elementary School is not authorized to collect parents' payments this year beyond the framework approved for them by the Exceptions Committee in 2020.
With reference to the issue of updating the teachers' salaries at the school, it should be noted that the reform is a new horizon, including that the new agreement does not apply to it.
It is important to emphasize that in secondary education (grades 10-12) they will remain as an unofficial seller that is fully budgeted by the state and the school will be obliged to continue to operate according to all the procedures and circulars of the CEO in budgeted secondary education institutions in Israel.
Sue the state for a subsidy according to the rate per student in the ultra-Orthodox independent education
Along with the unreasonable cost per year, the Raleigh school does not provide value by any measure. There is no index of excellence in any field, that the Raleigh school is in the top ten, not even an index that the school itself defines as important to it. He filled a school for the rich, but who will indeed be a leader in his field and cultivate excellence, leadership, etc. The time has come for the rally to close its doors, its time has passed, and not present a false representation. There are excellent schools in Haifa, look for them in different categories in which they lead.
The reality rests on the glory of the past. The level is not what it used to be. The school's slogan "and frugality" is disconnected from the population that can afford to pay the crazy amounts required. It seems that the criterion for accepting the children is the depth of the parents' pockets. Tuition is more expensive than a private university! There is no justification for this, it is not clear where the money goes, millions that enter the cash register every month
Ashamed that this is how parents behave
Wallet and wallet and wallet
This is how the parents enjoy feeling that their children are worth more for their money, so you have no choice but to pay more for an impression. They pay a lot.
My wife and I are graduates of Raleigh, the children of Raleigh graduates, I admit that I was wrong to send my children to Raleigh,, there are schools that are just as good if not better, certainly with more investment in students than the Raleigh school that pretends to be unique, if it was unique its matriculation percentage would be 100% , which does not happen even to such a selective school. They don't invest in children beyond the required minimum, they don't nurture the strong and they don't encourage the struggling ones.
In short, there is no reason to throw money away
And the modesty goes…
It's like this in the entire senior public sector because of the Histadrut. We receive less and less services and pay more and more - property taxes, rising taxes to finance skyrocketing debts for millionaire retirees. Gantz robbed the organized sector of billions to whitewash invalid supplements and a ridiculous and beautiful retirement age Ben David robbed the teachers' sector and then their entire wage and pension pyramid soars. The result is less education. less welfare. More children in each class. less culture. Less cleanliness. Fewer public buildings
Everything is wasted on senior salaries and huge pensions.
The parents want to eat the cake and leave it whole. shame!
Indeed a rich education for rich children only! If, on the side of the increase, the administration had significantly increased the generous subsidies or scholarships for parents who are struggling, as well as full funding for more students with potential from disadvantaged populations, this move of raising the tuition fee would have been perceived in a fairer and more valuable manner, befitting an institution that claims to educate and train young leaders in the future.... the message that Reali sends Today it is very elitist and alienating and it hurts the public image and reputation of this institution.
By the way, with a more entrepreneurial and business-minded head, they could generate more net income for the school without raising tuition.
Already now the Reali is an elitist school that the majority of the public cannot send their children to. Already today it is a school for the rich only
