Starting next week: free travel for female and male soldiers on public transportation, even without uniforms
Another step for the soldiers in regular service. As of December 15, 2022, regular soldiers may travel for free on public transportation even without uniform. This, following an agreement reached between the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Defense and the IDF.

every day of the week
Until now, free rides without uniforms were only possible on Friday and Saturday evenings. The new arrangement will allow regular soldiers to travel free of charge on all days of the week, on all means of public transportation: buses, Israel Railways, the light rail and the cable car.
Belt card validation
The female and male soldiers will be required to validate the seat belt card every time they travel on public transportation, similar to validating a multi-line card or public transportation apps.
Minister of Transportation and Road Safety, MK Merav Michaeli:
"There are those who talk about concern for IDF soldiers and there are those who do." Dear servants, you and yours do so much for the country, and now the country is doing for you. Gone are the days when you need a uniform to travel for free on public transport, from now on it's free all the time and in any way you want.
In the last year and a half, the Ministry of Transportation, under my leadership, has made a leap forward in service to IDF soldiers - we have improved the transportation system to the bases and invested a lot in public transportation, which is the main means of transportation used by our soldiers. I wish every soldier a good trip and, of course, return home safely."

Director General of the Ministry of Transportation, Michal Frank:
"I am proud that we were able to reach an agreement that makes it easier for IDF soldiers, and allows them to travel for free even when they are not in uniform. Soldiers are frequent travelers on public transportation, and their travel contributes to the revolution of public transportation and to the reduction of the use of private vehicles.'
