Rabin's murder, 27 years have passed, does Haifa remember?
The State of Israel marks today (6/11/22) 27 years since the assassination of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin.
"We remember you, friend," shout the headlines of the newspapers and news websites.
Do you remember? Also remember in Haifa?
Try to ask yourself, when did you drive down Yitzhak Rabin Street in Haifa? According to "Wiz", the Haifa municipality did not perpetuate Rabin's memory by naming a street after him. Maybe a school? I checked on Google, there is no school named after Rabin in Haifa.
Perhaps it would be possible to commemorate his name in the name of a new neighborhood, after all, the Naot Peres neighborhood was inaugurated during the lifetime of Shimon Peres. So what? Skipped the Rabin commemoration?
Perhaps this is a personal matter, apparently, related to the relations that prevailed between Rabin Lihav, the former mayor of Haifa, who belonged to the Peres camp in that rivalry? It's possible. But why, then, was this not corrected in the era after Yahav?
I asked to check how the Haifa Municipality implements the 1997 Yitzhak Rabin Memorial Day law. The year 2022 -
It was clarified that there is no proactive activity regarding the Rabin memorial in Haifa. In one of the centers, the public is invited to a lecture on the subject, for a fee of NIS 30 for subscribers.
I appeal to the mayor and the elected officials - try to understand the magnitude of the damage caused to the public by not commemorating and not holding memorial events. Get over yourselves and cancel today the routine meetings you scheduled in the council and make lasting decisions from here on out, as well as municipal memorial actions. Tomorrow you can fight again.
Note to the righteous: The name of the government in Rabin's name was determined by the government and not by the municipality.
Rabbi Ze'ev Jabotinsky with 5 buildings, such a tiny little one to damage the name of this great man. It would be better if there was not a street of shame for the Mapai and the Painikims named after him.
Obviously this is a completely deliberate act
Jabotinsky deserved a neighborhood named after him at least as much as Shimon Peres and much more than him
You are right, Mr. M.M.R., you were also my M.M.R. successfully
In the last few days since the elections, the entire leftist camp says that it is worried about damage to democracy.
Say Rabin, isn't he the one who moved Oslo on the tip of one voice after he bribed three Knesset members of a junction who resigned and founded Yeod after Rabin promised them a minister, a deputy minister and Mitsubishi survived? Transferring Oslo with bribes is not a violation of democracy and the will of the voter?
You just asked Tam.
It is indeed ridiculous that we named a street after a singer, who is still among us and who will have a long life.
And in the name of the one who was Minister of Defense and Prime Minister who was assassinated, there is no street, neighborhood or school named after him. The municipality of Haifa apologized and fixed this folly.
Because Rabin still exists in Haifa.
Reflections on thought and coexistence
Ramat Rabin
Kiryat Rabin
Navot Rabin
Eyal is right. It is appropriate to first check where
The late Rabin was immortalized.
Jacob, the name of the doctor/professor is Yossi Ben Artzi.
Jacob,
You are one million percent right!!!
Immediately after the murder, I suggested changing the name of International Street to "Sderot Rabin", and a doctor whose name I have forgotten and who was in charge of naming streets in Haifa, refused with delusional opacity!!!
And in addition - A N A - H Z H B shimach, et al
Hiding, what are you afraid of?
And to the responder, Eyal!
Reading Comprehension !!!
Mr. Borovsky wrote, that the Cabinet of Ministers - it was named after Rabin - by the State !!!
what did not you understand ?
The claim/problem is ignored
The head of the city from then until today, from memory
The ma or r e - that for everyone who has a mind - it is an event
A position in the country - and the Knesset of Israel - announced this
, and the law of the law, referring to the R.C.H
Y c h k r b i n !!!
Please, Eyal, before you jump on everything -
H A M K K R A !!!
I didn't understand - what's the problem that the state decided to name the cabinet after Rabin? Isn't this a commemoration in Haifa? Did the government decide this without consulting the municipality? Who decided what would be considered a proper commemoration, a school and a debt is appropriate but a government building is not enough?
And if there was a school or a street named after Rabin, what is the difference between commemoration and remembrance? Is the one commemorated on a sign on a school building a sufficient memory? So it's fine? And by the way, Rabin is not the only politician who was murdered in Israel - Rehavam Zeevi should also be commemorated, whose contribution is no less, and if you say suspicions arose... For Rabin, the dollar count would have ended in breach of trust and conviction. Times have changed what?
It was appropriate to commemorate many politicians who contributed a lot and for some reason are not immortalized. Yitzhak Shamir has not been commemorated in Haifa to this day either. You know how many architects who designed the best buildings in Haifa are not immortalized anywhere. You know how many fighters who fought in the battles for Haifa are not commemorated in the city. You know how many personalities who won the Haifa Award for an entire career dedicated to the city and the country, winners of international awards are not immortalized anywhere.
Rabin Rabin Rabin, the whole country Peres and Rabin. The one with the dollar account affair the other refused to return a million illegal shekels he received in the primaries despite the court's ruling on the matter.. To a legal buyer Peres argued... Here we might be called Ein Hayam, Ein Rabin. We will resolve conflicts and also commemorate Rabin along the way in the wonderful coexistence he organized throughout this country with Oslo.
Dear Jacob!
I have no words.
Your words are engraved in rock.
And if the members of the council come to their senses, lift the glove,
And immediately they slept, they demanded a council meeting, which is not from the number in memory of Rabin (!!)
A little respect, to you, to yourselves, to Madmana!!!!
Shows embarrassing ignorance of Mr. Borowski.
The entire Government Kiryat in the lower city is called Kiryat Yitzhak Rabin.
The university and the Technion also have Rabin buildings - for social sciences and civil engineering.
In neighboring cities there are already 3 schools named after him. more than enough.
Anyone who wants to be mayor should get to know Haifa or do a more thorough inspection.
