Renewal - the opening of the new Helen Doron Center for English Studies in Haifa, under the management of Shush Colin
In October, Shush Colin's center (the center for learning English using the Helen Doran method) underwent an upgrade: wall painting, new carpets, innovative furniture, branding and more...
Instructor teams from all over the Haifa metropolis were invited to the festive event. Honored with her presence, the one and only, Mrs. Helen Doron!
Helen Doron is considered a pioneer in the field of learning English similar to learning a mother tongue. Helen Doron founded the system 30 years ago and today there are around 900 branches in a very large number of countries around the world.

Shush Kolin, manager and franchisee of Helen Doron in Haifa tells Lahi Fe: The special thing about the method is the teaching method, the studies are through experience and play, the groups are small groups and the children are divided by level and age groups.
The ages we teach at the centers are from 3 months to 18 years.
I manage about 4 study centers in the metropolis of Haifa and since the city is a mixed city (Jews and Arabs), there are 2 branches for Arabic speakers and 2 branches for Hebrew speakers:
1. In Carmel - David Pensky 5 Haifa 04-8364464 052-3324117 - for all ages.
2. Mattens Ramot Begin Soroka St. Haifa 04-6214192 - for ages 4 to 6

They start at a young age - Helen Doron and Lavi Ben Artzi
Why start learning English from a young age?
A child at a young age is able to acquire 3 languages at the same time and maintain accurate steering in each of the languages, as a mother tongue.
Our brain expands and adds cells until the age of 6 and in practice the children use a small part of their capacity.
In our method, learning the language is done in the same way as the child acquires his mother's language, that is, through games, repeated listening, learning songs and illustration, which allows the child to acquire another language while experiencing it.

Doesn't learning English at the same time as starting school confuse them? (ages 6 – XNUMXst grades)
Shush Kolin explains: Some parents believe that teaching a second language to children in the first grade may harm their achievements in their first year at school. With the Helen Doron method, we teach the children in an experiential way. The children are sitting on carpets. They sing, play and present, exactly the same way they acquired the mother tongue, at the beginning of their journey, that is, without pressure and by experience.
The children come to play and internalize the language pleasantly and naturally, at this stage we only focus on speaking without reading and writing.
Why learn English if you are already studying at school? Ages 7-8 grades XNUMX+XNUMX
In some schools, they start learning English already in the second or third grade and parents avoid sending their children to an English class because "they already have English in school".
In schools they learn the ABC and grammar.
Our way of studying is different from that at school and yields significantly better results.
- The groups are small: 6-8 children in the group allows for personal treatment for each child. (compared to 30 children in a school class).
- The study is experiential and accompanied by learning games and songs significantly reduces anxiety about English without the pressure of exams and grades, the child feels protected and is not afraid of making mistakes.
- Learning to read and write in the global phonetic way. Guarantees fluent reading in a relatively short time.
- The classes are conducted only in English, without translation but only in illustration. In this way the child learns to think in English and acquires the language as a mother tongue.
New design and branding for the complex in Haifa - according to Helen Doron's standards
How does an English class using the Helen Doron method contribute to adult children? Isn't it childish?
(referring to middle school and upper school children)
At this stage of the English studies, we give the students tools to deal with the material taught at school and tools to reach a high level in speaking and reading comprehension.
Since only English is spoken during the class, it prepares them for the oral matriculation exam.
The interaction that is created between the children, while using learning games, the encouragement and support within a group of up to 6 children, all of these allow the child to acquire self-confidence and he begins to believe that he can achieve great achievements in the subject of English.
So why in a group and not a private teacher?
Because only in the group is the language acquired.
Because only in the group everyone participates and talks - while playing.
Because only in a group do you enjoy studying.
