(live here in education) - The Ministry of Education published last night (Tuesday 13/9/22) the educational picture, which provides information about what is happening in the city's schools. How many teachers in each school have a master's degree or higher? What is the average number of children in each of the classes in the school and what is the percentage of eligibility for matriculation?
Eligibility for matriculation in Haifa
The percentage of eligibility in Haifa stands at 83.6% of the students who entered the matriculation at the various schools in the city.

100% eligibility for matriculation - 172 female students
With 100% eligibility for matriculation, the Tzvia studio in Hadar won. 172 female students of the school achieved full matriculation. After them, with a much larger number of students, is Leo Buck High School with an eligibility percentage of 98.8%. The Orthodox school reached 98.1%. Nazareth High School reached an eligibility percentage of 97.1% of the students.
The Reali school reached an eligibility percentage of 96.4%, the Yavne yeshiva achieved 96.2% eligibility and the religious high school for girls Ironi 94.3 (AMIT) reached an eligibility percentage of 94.1%. The Reot school achieved XNUMX% eligibility for matriculation.
Urban A with an unprecedented achievement
Among the urban schools, Urban High School A leads with an eligibility percentage of 95.8, an unprecedented achievement for the school. It is followed by Kiryat Haim High School with 94.8% eligibility for matriculation, and immediately after it is Alliance with an eligibility percentage of 94.1%. Urban High School H in the center of Carmel reached an eligibility percentage of 88.2%, High School in the New Smet reached an eligibility percentage of 82.1%, Urban High School C in Neve Shanan reached an eligibility percentage of 80.2%, Alkarma School reached an impressive eligibility percentage of 92%, compared to Almutanabi who reached an eligibility percentage of 62.9%.
5 math units
Beyond the eligibility for the matriculation certificate, there is also significance to the subjects in which they are tested and the number of credits in each of them. Thus, in Rieli they reached an impressive achievement among those who completed 5 credits in mathematics, and the school is at the top of the table with about 43% of the students with 5 credits in mathematics , a particularly high percentage compared to the municipal and national average. In Leo Buck, on the other hand, the average of those who finish 5 units is 31.3%, while in the 27.6th city it is XNUMX%.

What can we learn from the numbers?
In the past, these data would not be published, out of fear that they would negatively affect enrollment in schools with a lower eligibility percentage that would find themselves with a shortage of students. But the parents' organizations demanded the publication of the data on the grounds that they had the right to receive this information and the court agreed.
The data show what could have been assumed before, and that is that, naturally, private schools that select their students according to certain criteria will reach a higher percentage of eligibility than the public schools, which submit all students to matriculation without screening.
What is the effect of advertising on students?
Another thing to be aware of is that the publication of the data causes competition between the schools, with each school striving to present a higher eligibility percentage. It can be concluded that there is an advantage in this, but it is not accurate, because there is a complexity that must be considered. A certain school may encourage students not to take 5 math credits, for example, if the teachers think their chances of success are low. More than once, young men and women after the army say that they returned to take the 5-credit math exam in order to be admitted to the Technion, for example, after their high school teachers did not help them with this or even directed them to give up.
Certainly there are many cases in which the student's welfare is the top priority, but we should not take lightly the influence of the publication of matriculation eligibility data and the competition that is created between the schools, which often may come at the expense of the students.
It is important to the schools that every student arrives to receive a matriculation certificate, because the percentage of eligibility is calculated based on the number of all students, so in the schools there is a great pressure around the desire for every student to leave with a full matriculation certificate, even if it is not the best for him.
It's not all about numbers and matriculation
The educational picture allows us to get a lot more information about the schools. A very interesting statistic is the number of students in the class on average, in each of the schools. While there are 30 students per class on average in the 27th city, 28 students in the 32rd city, and 34 students in the classes, 27 students in Reali and 33 students in Leo Buck. There are about XNUMX students in Ironi V and XNUMX students in Alliance.
The bottom line
The answer to the question which is the best school in the city is more complex than it seems. A male or female student can go through a bad time even in a school that is considered the best, while other students will have empowering and positive experiences in another school, which is considered much less good. Two students can study for 12 years in the same class and sit at the same table - one will enjoy and learn and the other will suffer every moment. One thing is certain, one or another eligibility percentage does not necessarily indicate the satisfaction of the students.

"The educational image reflects the effort of the teaching staff"
Dr. Sa'ar Harel, Haifa District Manager:
"The published data of the educational picture reflect the day-to-day effort of the teaching staff for the education of our children. I congratulate the students of the district for their impressive achievements as shown in the educational picture. My congratulations to the educators in the authorities of the district, you have led the students to success despite the difficult times, be strong and embrace it.
Thanks and appreciation to partners in the authorities and supervision for hard work and the significant lead."
The place is so broken that it manages to break even more the broken people who come to it
Leo Buck is above all else an inspiration
But our prime minister does not have a matriculation certificate. Let's hope he does not serve as a model and inspiration for young people...
Leo Beck. Excellent management and teachers. Excellent company for youth. Good Morning.
Liubak. Only Leobak. Excellent management and teachers. A lot of values and an excellent company for youth.
It is absolutely possible to build an index of school quality that would be more complex than the percentage of those eligible for matriculation. It is possible to pass questionnaires of student satisfaction, how attentive they feel the staff is to them, bullying at school, social activities, etc. You just have to pick up the glove and invest a little. Not everything is grades, even in high schools
Except for asbestos, everything in Leoback is excellent.
