Alon Tal: "In the hands of the Prime Minister is the ability to approve or disapprove the purchase permit in Bezan. The good news: Prime Minister Lapid accepted the demand of MK Alon Tal and the demand of the lobby for the recovery of the Haifa Bay - a commitment from the buyers of Zan to vacate the factories within a decade, in accordance with the government's decision.
The bad news: he approved the purchase of Bezan by a petrochemical company (a polluting company, with huge debts and a dubious environmental record) instead of encouraging a real estate company to help with the promotion of 70,000 housing units in the midst of a housing crisis."

Today, Monday 12/9/22, at 17:00 a public hearing will be held on the subject of the government's decision. Together with the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning at the Technion, with the head of the administration responsible for the implementation of the government's decision, Rami, representatives of the academy, the authorities and civil society - we will find out where things stand, the obstacles and how to work together to heal Haifa Bay. Join us!
As the Minister of Transport Efraim Senna brought about a government decision to extend the airport in Haifa to 2400 meters. You are invited to see how it was realized, this is how it will be realized here as well. decade. postponed for another five years. Committee to find an alternative location in five years. Then the cancellation of the decision due to a faulty consideration.
They work on us with their eyes. The petrochemicals also understand that there is total indifference in the city and there is no pressure on the governments of the weak and dysfunctional municipalities here
I have not heard any reference to the fact that the condensate, which is a particularly volatile and polluting fuel, does not have to reach Haifa at all. A better solution is to sell it straight from the rig. The residents of the area suffer from increased pollution, and tycoons get rich at the expense of public health.
A green park... what an amazing idea... when will it happen? do you think The businessmen are already waiting to earn tons of money...do you think they will give up the money associated with building so many residential buildings?

What is the alternative to polluting factories?
Polluting people! 130,000 units (about half a million residents!) will suffer from the polluted environment and create a huge traffic jam in the Gulf.
A wise alternative: a huge green park along the Kishon and moving the construction to the slopes of the lower western Galilee mountains.
For decades, the planners from the Faculty of Urban Development came out of the Haifa Bay's encroachment and environmental damage - not only did they not fight to clean it up, but fixed the pollutants, the transmission pipes, the ants' takeover of the Kishon hinterland, helped to tilt the Kishon and destroy the waterside environments along it. Worked in the service and on behalf of polluters and contributed to institutions that added more and more polluters in the Haifa Bay (and are trying even these days to really expand and add more). The faculty did not raise a voice of alarm, its graduates remained silent - even being the residents of the area suffering from the hazards, because they received enough silence fees in the form of planning work for this damage. Planning a 'construction museum' was a pig's nose, and here it collapsed just like all the concepts about whitewashing crimes and non-compliance with standards and operating buildings without a permit.
For twenty years, students tried to mobilize the faculty and the Technion to fight the ammonia plant that once had no permit - nothing, they were unsuccessful.
Suddenly the big heroes are hosting us conferences on the future of the Gulf. One big hypocrisy as someone who knows the souls working there. A fig leaf for decades of inaction and even extremely harmful action.
