Going back to school - also in Leo Beck
With the return to school of two and a half million students in Israel, we will look towards one of Haifa's most important educational institutions, the Leo Beck Education Center.
Leo Beck Education Center
Leo Beck is a reform school, operating on behalf of the World Union of Progressive Judaism in Haifa. The institution was established in 1938 on Hillel Street, as a kindergarten for a group of immigrant children from Central Europe. In 1956, with its development, the institution moved to Golomb Street, near the Bahá'í lands. This neighborhood made it difficult for his physical development, as a result the Haifa municipality allocated him an area of about 20 dunams in the French Carmel near the Stella Maris Monastery. A new building was built on this site in the 70s of the last century, which is the nucleus from which the current campus developed.
The school, which includes education from preschool to high school, operates and educates in light of the principles of Rabbi Dr. Leo Buck and is the center of Reform Judaism in Israel.

Rabbi Leo Beck
Rabbi Dr. Leo Beck, one of the leaders of the Reform (liberal) community, was a leader of German Jewry during the Nazis and the Holocaust. Although he had many opportunities to escape and leave Germany, he chose to stay to lead the community. In 1943 he was exiled to the Theresienstadt camp, from where he was released in 1945, at the end of the war. In Rabbi Beck's opinion, Judaism is the classic example of a religion based on moral principles, but also connected to the reality of everyday life. The rabbi tried to show the connection between Judaism and Christianity, and preached tolerance, mutual appreciation and dialogue between Judaism and Christianity.
The architects of the building
The central building was designed by the Tel Aviv firm "Nadler, Nadler, Bickson, Gil Architects" which won an architectural competition. The firm was one of the most important in the planning of public institutions in the 70s/80s and has been active in this field in recent years as well. Among his many works: the National Library at the Givat Ram Campus in Jerusalem, the Jerusalem Theater, the Municipality of Beer Sheva and "Beit Sokolov", the home of the Journalists' Association in Tel Aviv.
Because I'm interested in what is happening with regard to the asbestos there in the high school for dust that Tschernihovsky escaped...???
Feels like those who are lazy, bring an opinion that everything is fine..
And those who don't, move the children to another place.
The days will tell.
Thank you very much for the interesting summary, especially for me as a mother of students studying at this institution.
