(haipo) - The swimmer Anastasia Gorbenko from Kiryat Yam who trains at Maccabi Kiryat Bialik - won gold in the 200m individual medley.
Anastasia Gorbenko won the gold medal for the second time in a row and she is the European champion in the 200m individual medley.
The European Swimming Championships are being held these days in the city of Rome, Italy. The 19-year-old Gorbenko set a time of 2:10.92 minutes and was ahead of the Dutch Merit Stenberchen who won the silver with 2:11.14 minutes and the Italian Sarah Franceschi who set 2:11.38 and won the bronze.
Meanwhile, it should be noted that in the semi-final heat, Gorbenko set a time of 2:12.91 minutes and rose from fifth place. Her record in this race is 2:09.99 minutes, as mentioned, she was unable to set a new record despite the tremendous start, but it was enough for her to keep the gold.
Gorbenko is also supposed to jump to another final in the championship, as part of the relay quartet for the 4x200 freestyle mix (2 women and 2 men), together with Denis Loktev, Bar Soloveitchik and Daria Golovati.
