(haipo) - Prof. Alon Tal, member of the Knesset from "Blue and White - New Hope" on a tour in Haifa
MK Prof. Alon Tal from 'Blue and White-New Tikva Gadsha' was yesterday (Tuesday 9/8/22) a guest of the chairman of the Green faction in the Haifa City Council, Avihu Hahn.
The two toured together with other activists in several places in the city, including the Bezan complex, the offices of the Nahal Kishon Authority and the Shekmona beach and ended the tour at the Bat Galim promenade in front of the infamous "Casino" building, where they met with environmental activists who live in Haifa and the region.
"Stop the development plans along the coasts"
Referring to the issue of the sea, MK Alon Tal stated that 22 development plans along the coasts of the State of Israel should be canceled as well as the marine reserves should be expanded. Avihu Han asked Member of Knesset Tal to assist in expanding the Carmel Beach Reserve eastward, up to the area of the casino building.
Hahn and his fellow faction member, council member Motti Blitzblau, explained to MK Tal the great importance of solving the railway problem through a tunnel and not through electrification.
During a visit to the BZN complex, Hahn spoke about the urgent need for BZN to leave Haifa as soon as possible, and emphasized in MK Tal's ears his demand that he would assist in dealing with the issue of the introduction of environmental factors from Haifa to the administration established to evacuate BZN.
"A sense of missed opportunity"
At the end of the tour, MK Tal told a live reporter that in Haifa there is a great sense of loss, and that he takes with him the insight that the State of Israel must mobilize to strengthen the green forces, so that this natural gem will stop being the most polluted area in the country, with such high morbidity rates .
"The State of Israel needs to mobilize"
"The beaches belong to the public"
"need solutions"
The chairman of the Green faction in the city council, Avihu Han, stated that one of the most important things for him to say to MK Tal is that Haifa needs strong connections with the Israeli government, so that the government will provide solutions for the various needs of the city.
Mrs. Fiki Barak Flexer, an environmental activist who was present at the meeting, said that the most important thing to her is that they stop ignoring the residents of Haifa and the region, who have been suffering from a poor quality of life for many years.
Haifa is polluted not only from the falcon, but it is polluted from the dirt of people who have no concern to protect their environment. The streets of Haifa are full of dog pee and poop dirt, scattered cat food, plastic bags of garbage that people don't bother to throw in the trash can.
Where are the city inspectors?? Why is there no enforcement? Where are the bylaws?? Haifa is not what it used to be, what a shame
And what about the high morbidity, the fear of missile fire towards Haifa Bay.
Gotta take care of this ticking bomb.
Human life is wasted!!!
The article raised serious problems of Haifa, important not only to the "greens" because all factions are interested in cleaning the city from industrial pollution.
Comments regarding the article:
1. Environmental pollution has existed since nearly 100 years, when the British planned and built the port, refineries and factories that were necessary for them in the empire.
2. Regarding the train, it is obviously desirable to put it in a tunnel, but then it must be electric. Because you can't run diesel locomotives in tunnels.
The Chinese have a port,
Kiryat Haim has a default.
Air pollution from the south, sea pollution from the west.
And we will continue to hear 'Illoli.. and it's a shame..'
Mrs. Picky is right. And Kiryat Haim is in a very sad state. The beach and sand just disappeared. Dirty sea water. Ruined roads all over Haifa. The cleanliness of the streets has decreased. And where are all the green trees and decency? In Kiryat Haim, arrows are dying along the streets from lack of water and care. Where does our property tax money go?
Correction - to return the crown to its old age...
Haifa, if it weren't for the polluting chemical and petrochemical industry, could be a tourist city at an international level and of high quality.
The Carmel and the beaches of the city of Haifa are an amazing natural gem.
Too bad !
It is possible to correct the injustice with the city if they invest huge sums to restore the ancient crown to the charming and beautiful city of Soo as it was over 150 years ago.
The chemical and petrochemical industry -
Is it the cause of the amount of mold in every house in the city?
to a piggery?
To the Scandinavian Shatanz?
Guilty cliché again? You die because she doesn't treat you and doesn't count you,
Prof. Alon Tal is a first class national strategic asset. If anyone can help the residents of Haifa and the north - it's him! Blessings, and also to his father and Moti who invited and talked with him.
