For the first time Yaffe Nof leads public participation - air pollution from trucks

Public representatives participated in the conference organized by the Yaffe Nof company, at the company's offices. The purpose of the conference is to influence the outline of the project to reduce air pollution from transportation in Haifa.

At the beginning of the talks, Yafe Nof's CEO, Avishi Cohen, presented the project and invited the participants to take an active part and influence the decision-making process in the project. Later in the conference, the experts on behalf of the project manager presented the project outline, the maps, the state's investment in replacing filters of trucks that have changed dimensions to the Euro 6 standard and the areas for which the entry of polluting vehicles is prohibited.

At the end of the presentation of the outline of the project, a round was held among the participants, during which the representatives of the public addressed the various components of the project, each according to his view and according to the components closest to his heart.

All comments were recorded by the project manager and the participants were assured that every comment would be taken into account, provided that the comments are given within the mandate given by the project management. The project managers emphasized that in the first phase, the mandate received by the administration deals with two issues:

The first issue is the restriction of the area into which heavy polluting vehicles are allowed to enter, where the restricted area includes the entire city of Haifa and its residential neighborhood.

The second topic deals with the installation of filters for trucks which do not meet the Euro Four standard. This installation will be carried out by special garages authorized for this purpose by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the filters themselves are subsidized by the State of Israel.

As part of the project, a situation was created, for the first time in Israel, in which an entire city is free from the entry of a polluting heavy vehicle.

Avishi Cohen, CEO of Yaffe Nof He pointed out that such a project has already been successfully implemented in a number of large cities around the world, including Berlin, Amsterdam and more. In Israel, Haifa will be the first city where the program will be implemented, from state budgets, and thus the residents of Haifa will benefit from a significant reduction in air pollution caused by polluting heavy transport. Following the questions of the public representatives, the project managers emphasized that this project is not a substitute for the Haifa municipality's efforts to reduce the pollution caused by industry. The project managers also emphasized that at this stage, this manager is dealing with the mandate she received from the Ministry of Environmental Protection, i.e. reducing pollution from transportation only.

  1. And where can you see who and who participated in the meeting? Who are the "public representatives"? Is it possible next to each name that appears in the pictures to indicate "his role in power"?
