Today (Monday 18/07/22) a discussion on the construction of a power plant in Bezan was held in the Haifa District Planning Committee. Will the committee approve the construction of the power plant in Bezan. Zan claims that this will result in a reduction of 95,000 tons of CO2 (carbon dioxide) and a more secure energy supply. On the other hand, the Union of Cities for the Protection of the Environment claims that this may increase the emission of air pollutants from the compound?
By upgrading the power plant, Bezan seeks to increase the production of electricity at the plant without scrapping the old facilities, which could increase the emission of air pollutants from the complex. All this against the background of measuring benzene values that are higher than the daily standard around the complex.
Bazan was handed over to Lai Pa
This is an upgrade project of an existing facility centered on more efficient and less polluting energy. The project will result in a reduction of 95,000 tons of CO2 (carbon dioxide) and a more secure energy supply. That is, the refinery will be more protected from power outages or other external disruptions. Bezen expects that even parties interested in its closure will not oppose projects that will improve the quality of the environment.
From the Union of Cities it was delivered to Lai Pa
The chairman of the union, Adv. Sharit Golan Steinberg:
I expect and demand from all members of the committee to resolutely oppose BaZen's request. We are witnessing high pollutant emissions and the approval of the plan will lead to an increase in pollution. It is unthinkable that while the Israeli government is promoting a plan that includes the closure of BaZen, we will come back and discuss BaZen's request to expand through the establishment of power plant. This is a polluting plant with repeated failures and the message from all committee members and government representatives should be clear - no plan aimed at increasing Bezan's activity should be promoted.
The committee's decision at the end of the discussion
The Haifa District Planning and Construction Committee discussed today (Monday, 18/07/22) the request of the Bezan company to instruct the Ministry of Environmental Protection to prepare guidelines for an environmental impact assessment for the construction of a new power plant powered by natural gas in the Bezan complex.
We will not approve a power plant at this time
After a discussion in which all the relevant parties were heard, the committee decided Not to approve the request at this stage and come back and discuss the request after several actions have taken place. The committee asked Bezan to come back and discuss with the Ministry of Environmental Protection the environmental aspects that came up in the discussion. Also, the committee will request the position of the joint committee of Bezan, the reference of the professional team leading TAMA 75 at the Planning Administration headquarters, as well as the position of the implementation negotiation team Evacuation of the factories in the Bezan complex All this to ensure the realization of the national plan for the evacuation of Bezan factories.
I don't understand, wasn't there a committee of CEOs and a government decision to evacuate the polluting industry from Haifa Bay within a few years?
So what do other power stations approve???
Please be kind and remove yourself from the British Gulf of the city of Haifa. Please go out in Zen to a place where there are no people. The pollution that a species produces from time to time is enough to place it in another area, which is not populated by humans.
Why won't they be honored to take themselves out of the British Gulf of the city of Haifa to a place where there are no people and do whatever they want there.
