Mazuz: "Where was Yahav for 12 years?"
A sub-committee for the Haifa Bay chaired by Dr. Akram Hasson and members of the Knesset Yaron Mazuz and Dov Hanin, gathered for a discussion together with public activists from Haifa, representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and representatives from the Municipality of Haifa
The purpose of the conference is to find a solution for Haifa Bay, to create a process for a new vision in Haifa, to define budgets to deal with pollution problems and to build a new national plan that will reduce the scope of petrochemical plants in the Bay.

Deputy Minister Yaron Mazuz came down in torrents on the Haifa municipality and the municipality's administration. He claimed that they zigzag and deliberately confuse the public (in this he is right). Claimed that donations should not be accepted from polluting and self-interested factory owners. Requests that the ministers stop the expansion of the Bezan. Demands the establishment of an industrial council for the Bezan and the Gulf factories. The property tax money will be directed to this council and all of it will be used to improve the condition of the polluting facilities and reduce the risks in the bay!
MK Yael Cohen Faran She demanded that the head of the air monitoring division in the Supreme Court's office detail how they came to the headline: We have decreased air pollution in the Gulf by 11 percent? The director of the division admitted that there was no such decrease and what is known now is a decrease of only 4 percent. MK Dov Hanin claimed that the report written and published by the committee His leadership was not implemented. He claims that there was no decrease in pollution. In the state of morbidity, the data are extremely difficult. What is needed in Haifa Bay is a big change now and not minor repairs. The craziest thing that is being approved right now is to increase pollution by approving the expansion of the ZEN. This is a decision that resonates with the public. He wanted to rely on the extensive knowledge of the dedicated environmental activists in Haifa. MK Abu Maruf claims that we should not wait for the results of the epidemiological survey. In the meantime, no new facility should be allowed to be built. We should deal with the existing pollution and not bring in new pollution. Why, he asks, is the ammonia tank not being evacuated? Why is the morbidity from the pollution not being checked in the Arab communities there, too? High morbidity (MK Abu Maruf is also a doctor).
Yael Cohen Faran challenges Tzur Galin:
Tzur Galin, head of the air monitoring division at the Ministry of Higher Education, admits: "Pollution did not decrease by 11%, as reported by the Ministry of Health"
MK Yael German I propose to follow up on the implementation of the Hanin Committee, which published an excellent report. Expansion plans should be stopped and the existing factories reduced. Our role in the Knesset is to criticize the government where necessary. We need to activate an expert on our behalf to professionally check the epidemiological study and discuss the cancer map. MK Yaakov Asher does not understand how the data of the Ministry of High Court and the Green Movement are so far from each other. It smells very bad. You need to understand the situation first. If it's so good in the opinion of the ministry, maybe they act in a lenient way with these factories there. I was mayor. When a mayor doesn't want such plans, and certainly a strong mayor like Yona Yahav is the landlord and he can prevent their expansion and the dose of pollution in the factories and also close them Yona Yahav has the power to do this, not to think about the property tax of the factories but about the lives of its residents in the first place!
MK Zohir Bahlul He points out that BaZen is the biggest threat to environmental quality. I heard a stunning boy named Itai, very intelligent, that Daboni has cancer. Anyone who has been passing through the Haifa Bay for many years like me smells and is well aware of the situation in the bay. Maybe my wife also got this disease because of the pollution we live in the area to which we are exposed Apparently... the residents of the area have been turned into ducks. Yona Yahav has no magical abilities. This committee needs courage. How can it be that the Ministry of the High Court is protecting the factories?
MK Akram Hasson: At first the municipality supported the expansion of the Zan. Then it filed a belated appeal. And now she speaks a different language.
Yaron Mazuz emphasizes that none of the factory owners, some of whom live abroad, are doing us a favor. If he is a polluter, let him vacate his factory
MK Yael Cohen Faran asks Tzur Galin: How is it that you admit that in recent years the KOL factory deviated from the personal order and you did not take enforcement actions against them and now you still go easy on them?
Yaron Hanan from the Haifa City Council told the committee that there are real solutions for disposing of the ammonia tank within a year and not within at least 5 years as the government decided for the umpteenth time. The residents of the area need an immediate solution because the danger is the price of thousands of deaths in a wide range and economic paralysis of the Gulf area for many months. It will cost at least tens of billions to the country and will be considered a mega-disaster. The ministers are locked in and are not ready to discuss the solutions with us.

Residents of Haifa, unfortunately you are the main culprits! Take to the streets! Why do you allow the municipality and the government offices that are drowning in economic interests and the bribes of the factory owners to destroy your health and the health of your children? It's in your hands, keep the city and the country quiet until the polluting factories are completely removed from Haifa Bay!
