Artistic swimming: The Haifa teams did well in the international competition in Eilat
There are 2 artistic swimming groups in Haifa, a beginner group and an advanced group. The girls train twice a week, at the Technion pool.
At the end of May (2022), the teams participated in the open championship in artistic swimming held in Eilat, an international competition in which teams from various countries around the world such as Singapore, Dubai and more participated.
Coaches Nicole Salzenev and Ayalon Tesler traveled with the participants to the competition together with the director of the association Nika Bimbed. This competition was the biggest event in artistic swimming in Israel, since the outbreak of the Corona epidemic.
In the artistic swimming industry, there are several categories:
- Group - dancing in the water to the music in a group of up to 8 participants, when they must be completely coordinated.
- Duet - a dance of two participants.
- Solo - a dance in which only one participant appears in the water.
- Mandatory exercises - 4 pre-selected exercises that the competitor must perform alone in the water in front of a panel of judges.
Artistry, performance and more
All the dances are personal and each group comes with its own choreography and music, when the judging is based on several criteria, such as artistry, the level of difficulty of the dance, the level of performance, etc.
The mandatory exercises, on the other hand, are the same for all of them, with the winner being the one who performs them in the most accurate and best way.
Over 200 contestants
Over 200 female athletes of all ages participated in the Eilat Open Championship, and the Haifa girls returned crowned with medals after showing excellent performance in the pool.
In the group category for ages 10 and under, Haifa's young women's group won 1st place!
The names of the participants are: Ofir Wolff, Maayan Ebenstein, Gal Fox, Daniela Zwartz, Romi Schritz, Zoe Schwartzman, Yanina Grinbetsky and Noa Kovagan.
In the group dance category for ages 10 and up, Haifa's team won 3rd place!
The participants of the group are: Michal and Eva Tamzin, Tamar Minrabi, Nora Ganem and Noam Kogan.
First places for Haifa
In addition, the young women's group participated in the mandatory exercises category, where the girls also achieved incredible achievements: in 2012, Gal Fox won third place. In the 2013 yearbook, Maayan Ebenstein won first place and Ofir Wolf took second place, right after her. In the 2014 yearbook, Zoe Schwartzman won third place.
The other girls also achieved good results, when they were all ranked in the top ten.
The sports branch opened in Haifa very shortly before the corona came into our lives and suffered a blow, like all sports during the closures, but now the teams have returned to a regular routine of training and competitions.
The girls train, as mentioned, in the Technion pool with coach Nicole Salznev and under the management of Nika Bimbed's aqua dance association.
Well done to you. Shabbat Shalom.
