Semyon Kenner, the oldest Jew in the world and a 110-year-old Holocaust survivor, passed away this weekend in Haifa. Kenner, was born in 1912 in the town of Smotritz in the Khamenets Podolsky district in western Ukraine. Kenner fought in the Red Army as an officer and fought at the front of the war against the Nazi oppressor. In the war, Semyon participated in tough battles near Stalingrad under enemy bombs and fire, he was wounded twice, underwent rehabilitation and returned to fight again at the front.

Kenner was awarded bravery and war decorations as well as many medals for his many years of vigorous fighting and even received the bravery decoration from Bulgaria. Kener, immigrated to Israel in 1990 and he has lived in Haifa for over 30 years, first he lived on Osha Street, which is between Pevzner and Yosef Streets near the Municipal Theater in the Hadar neighborhood in Haifa and then he lived in the Romema neighborhood and in recent years Kener lived in the sheltered housing of the "Amidar" Co. Located on Radek Street in the Kiryat Eliezer neighborhood in Haifa.

In the meantime, it should be noted that in recent years Kenner lost his physical strength and was in a wheelchair most of the day with his close therapist, but it should be noted that in recent years his head was clear and he was communicating with the environment and he understood his limitations and always accepted them with understanding and appreciation A huge thank you to those who helped and helped him a lot.
