Inspector's opacity: A family that came during the Passover holiday to enjoy the new cable car in Haifa, returned home with heartache.
Last Tuesday (19/4/22) the Horowitz family arrived in Haifa from Hadera, after spontaneously deciding to come and enjoy the new attraction in the city - the cable car.
When they arrived at the place, the family members discovered that there was a very long line of waiting people. Since one of the family's children, a 13-year-old boy, suffers from autism and therefore has difficulty waiting for a long time and being around a lot of people, the father of the family realized that he had to activate the exemption from waiting in line for his son, so that they would not have to wait.

The father of the family, Elide Horowitz, turned to one of the inspectors at the place and according to him received a closed response from the inspector, when he refused to accept the ticket, which gives them entry to the place without the need to wait. It should be noted that the 'toll free' card is valid according to law and that operators of public places are required to receive it.
The same inspector told the father "I believe you, but unfortunately I won't let you activate the card because there is a long line and people are waiting in line for two or three hours." The father tried to explain to the inspector that his son suffers from disabilities that do not allow him to deal with a situation of congestion and noise, but the inspector's answer remained the same, apparently out of ignorance.
"This is the first time something like this has happened to me," the father tells Lahi Fe, "we experienced severe heartbreak and anger. We were shocked and simply ran away from the scene," he says painfully.

Orsan Salman, CEO of the Express Cable Company, from the Afifi Group, which operates the Messer Lahi Fe cable car Reaction:
We take events of this type very seriously, because we respect the duty exemption certificates, not only due to the legal requirement but mainly on our ethical and value level in the Afifi Group. During the Holy Week period, there were quite a few cases of showing the queue exemption certificates and everyone got through the queue without having to wait. We regret that this is what happened in this case. We will investigate the issue in depth and try to understand who gave the family this unfortunate answer.
Salman also added: "Every day of the weekdays, due to the high demand, we have sharpened this issue to all our teams. I would like to point out that we operate in the central area of the Gulf, the Technion and the University and it is possible, unfortunately, that some of the employees in these places acted in this serious manner, even though we also sharpened all these teams the guidelines and that these bodies also respect the duty exemption certificates and give the issue great importance."
It is important to note that the CEO of the company, Orsan Salman, called the boy's father, Elide Horowitz, and apologized to him for the incident that occurred. Horowitz told Lehi Pa that in his conversation with the CEO, he felt that the issue was indeed important to him and he promised him to address the issue.
Well done.
very important.
points out that we received excellent treatment from one of the inspectors who made sure to let us in without waiting in line after presenting the disabled cards of some of our family members
To all the angry commenters, you didn't understand my words, this whole country was angry at unreasonable levels.
I am not against giving an exemption to the disabled, quite the opposite. Many years ago I was one of the founders and activists of an association for the promotion of the disabled and I worked there as a full volunteer.
What I wrote that the article is long and disproportionate to the case that happened, and what happened is a human error by the person guarding the cable car.
It was possible to describe it matter-of-factly with constructive criticism and not cheap sensationalism.
Among the commenters there are also insults, this is the spirit of the times and it's a shame.
Bless you.
There is always a fool on duty without judgment and conscience
Yes, dear man, for an autistic boy, the experience of being part of the world is a matter of integration into life or being prevented from life, any good experience that respects his difficulty creates trust in the world and builds a little more of his ability to integrate, and any standing in a crowd of people and noise can close this possibility for him. With a permanent psychiatrist solved then it is mandatory in reality we have about a million disabled people in the State of Israel, autistics are also disabled, some of them will be able to integrate into productive work and thus be able to be part of the tax payers if only the awareness would be great enough and the guidelines would be implemented more and more from different levels of integration and by This way, the situation of their integration into society will improve,... In short, it is really a matter similar to life and death, and perhaps its nature is more important because it is life and death of our society
Kudos to Mr. Salman for the appropriate response and for calling the boy's father to apologize. I hope that the inspector who did not allow the child to get on the cable car without a queue, will be punished. This inspector is not only opaque, he is also stupid.
The opacity of a inspector: a family that came during the Pesach holiday to enjoy the cable car
Dear father to sue the cable car for mental anguish
Don't give up, go to a lawyer, file a civil lawsuit
Against the cable car that hit your son who is exempt from duty
And also heartache from a bus operator
Insolence of an inspector and the cable car company
shame
wicked
That "poor" inspector, in your opinion, should have at least picked up the phone or made an inquiry with his superiors about the law and not allow such distress to the family.
I see from your words that you have no idea how a family deals with a child with special needs. And I wish you had no such idea.
Until this family left home with all its complexity and difficulty that accompanies every such departure and accompanies every area of life, and finally encountered such a relationship and returned home as opposed to coming, it is unimaginable and unthinkable. Such things must not happen!!!
What for you is nothing to another family is a huge pain and insult!!
I would be grateful to the Samar reporter and the editor if you could correct the title. Because a child with autism does not "suffer". Perhaps his parents do due to the difficulty their son is experiencing, such as not taking into account his "exemption from time limit". But for the child it is a given situation and it is a disability that is part of him.
Right. It bothered me too. It is much more correct to write 'dealer' than 'sufferer'.
Thank you very much for the comment, we learned, the wording is different.
And if he suffers?
Probably because of a professional consideration by the cable car management. A pleasant evening.
How opaque can a service provider be? Abroad this does not happen. I am also disabled in the IDF and sometimes receive comments of "they don't see that you are disabled" this is how it is in Israel, a disgrace to a progressive country?????
I'm sorry but if you know as a father of a child with autism that your son is not able to stand in line then why destroy also the thing that saves people every day on their way to work just because of one bad experience?
I'm also on the continuum and I don't whine when there's a queue because there's nothing to do, you can't give up all the time and everything.. sometimes you have to deal with what will happen in health insurance funds or hospitals or I don't know where.... shame.
Nothing happened, you can show the inspector the door outside and find another job shame
Why bring it in advance to a place that is known and written to be very busy during the holy month? There are other places to enjoy. And what about older people, families with babies and young children who don't find it difficult to stand in line for three hours?
According to you, then maybe don't let children on the spectrum enjoy life at all
and take out to places of entertainment
Because there is a chance that there will be a load???
Even autistic children are allowed to go out and have fun, and no, it is not like the difficulty of a normal little child. And special children also have siblings, who are also required to make a lot of concessions, and they are also allowed to go out for family fun. And you don't always know that there will be such a load in advance.
Yes, everyone gets annoyed waiting in line and it's hard for them, but it's really not the same level of difficulty. You are blessed not to know, but no one has an insurance certificate.
Shame on the inspector! Opacity and inability to accommodate a child with special needs....
My high level autistic son who was driving alone had the exact same thing and only when an inspector saw he was talking to me on the phone let him pass
The first time is accepted with understanding. Let's hope there won't be a second time.
Invite the family to visit.
The owner of the company is right and indeed entire families pass with an exemption because of a child with an exemption - I was present when a family of a couple with seven children entered because there was a disabled child with an exemption and they won't separate families... when people stand for hours in line they don't have so much desire and fun to patronize and comments were also thrown Not nice to them. There is something disturbing about this, when a person and a disabled pass everyone understands but when a family with many children overtakes everyone it is never pleasant, for everyone.
Your response is appalling. I don't know how you didn't think of her before you posted her.
Did you expect them to send the child with the disability alone? And by the way, siblings of special children are often required to compromise because of the sibling's special needs
True, it's not pleasant when a whole family overtakes. On the other hand, it is very, very difficult to be siblings of a child who is dealing with autism. So every now and then they receive the exemption from duty together with him and feel that they also benefit from a special brother and not only should always be the ones who lose, who give up, who contain... Here - they can receive an example from the general public of the bride towards them and nothing will happen.
You can also bless them with a passing without comments and grievances, and acknowledge in your heart that you don't have to deal day-to-day with the challenges that life with a special sibling brings.
I wish this inspector all his children will be autistic and then we'll see.
The nature of the response is unnecessary and shameful
What is so bad about autism?
A public servant must know the rules and also exercise sensitivity and discretion when necessary. If his wife was in line she wouldn't wait.
Dear Samer Odeh,
So on holiday days, crowds of people came to the cable car and waited for hours to get into the cars. And here comes a family and shows some unknown certificate to the inspector, and that family wants to get ahead of the line for the cable car that started operating only a few days before.
That poor inspector does not know the certificate and does not promote the family...
So why make such a big deal out of it? A huge article, with the CEO's comments... as if it was a matter of life and death... all in all it was a queue for a sort of amusement ride like an amusement park.
Proportions should be kept.
Why make a big deal?
Maybe when you have a child on the line you will realize how frustrating it is when your child can't wait!
This is a very well-known certificate and there is no reason why children on the continuum and their families should avoid filling it.
The child and the family have a big challenge. Raising a child on the continuum is a very complex thing and it is appropriate not to make it more difficult than the existing difficulty.
I believe that the family only showed the certificate to the inspector because there was no other choice. No parent wants to present their child's disability certificate unless there is no other choice.
Naftali.. Comprehension of what is read and said. Stupid Blood. There is a hand confession that must be addressed, and not that a stupid inspector will not exercise discretion, or that he will contact his superior for clarification..
Did you understand or tell you again that you are a piece of garbage. I hope everything is fine in your family... and if not... no
This is not an unknown certificate, it is a government certificate that grants an exemption to its holder. It is not a question at all whether to respect it or not is the law. And it's possible, regardless of the certificate, to be a little sensitive and exercise discretion and not be a robot..
You probably don't know the certificate, it is a government certificate with the inscription of social insurance when it is explicitly written as exempt from duty if an inspector does not know such a certificate then his situation is bad
Unrecognized certificate? This is a legal certificate according to the law of the country. Very well known, legal and valid.
Are you a bibist by any chance or just an average jerk?
In which country is a 20-minute cable car over a landscape that everyone sees when standing at the university an attraction?
The cable car is intended to be a means of transportation and not an attraction during Passover for families.
The fact that they waited more than five minutes to come up with this nonsense is proof of poverty for the families.
Of course they didn't come there by public transport, everyone came by car and went back and forth on the crazy cable car.
Today he has been working for hours abandoned without a living soul. The Passover assault is over, the herd culture is something disastrous for us.
She took a look. What do you care what people want to do? A narrow eye is what they call it today. And what does it even have to do with what is being said?
You are an arrogant idiot. Sit at home in the dark and stop talking
