Minister of Transportation Marav Michaeli: "Every new mass transit vehicle we add will reduce traffic jams and congestion on the roads"
Good news for the residents of Haifa and the North, as well as for the thousands of students and faculty of the University of Haifa and the Technion.
Starting last night (April 11, 2022), male and female passengers can arrive in a few minutes by cable car, from the major transportation center, the Gulf Center, to the Neve Shanan neighborhood, the Technion, and Haifa University.
The operation of the cable car is made possible thanks to an agreement signed under the leadership of the Director General of the Ministry of Transportation and Road Safety, Michal Frank, between the Ministry and the companies Natibi Israel and Yefa Nof, and the operating company "Doppelmeier" from Austria.

150 kroner
About a month ago, the run-in trips began with male and female passengers, who enjoyed an innovative and fast service, and in the last few days, the handover of the project to the operator "Express Cable" from the Afifi Group was completed.
The cable car line, 4.4 kilometers long, connects the large transportation center "The Bay Center", which serves the residents of the Haifa metropolis and the north, with the Technion, the Neve Shanan neighborhood, and the University of Haifa in the Carmel Heights. The cable car will offer a cheap and fast transport connection with high frequency.
The cable car includes 150 cars that leave the station every 15 seconds and carry up to 8 male and female passengers in each car. The journey from the Bay Center to the Technion will take about 10 minutes and in another 9 minutes the vans will arrive at Haifa University.

The means of payment for public transport
Cable car passengers will be able to use all payment methods applicable in public transportation, including a multi-line card, periodic subscriptions and payment applications, and will enjoy discounts and exemptions accepted in other public transportation methods.
In the future, the cable car will be integrated into the "Equal Way" revolution and will be included in the national free ticket for 225 NIS per month (112.5 NIS for girls, teenage children and senior citizens up to the age of 75; free over the age of 75).
Minister of Transportation and Road Safety, MK Merav Michaeli:
I am proud and happy that, with great determination, we managed to rescue the cable car project in Haifa from a long delay, thus enabling the operation of a good and efficient transportation alternative for the public in the north of the country. In a joint effort together with the municipality of Haifa and the companies involved, we reached agreements and removed the barrier to operating the cable car. Our mission at the Ministry of Transportation is to create as many options as possible to move from place to place to reduce the use of private vehicles. Every new mass transit vehicle that we add will reduce the heavy traffic jams on the roads, and I am happy that Haifa will benefit from the new transportation service that the cable car will offer.

Director General of the Ministry of Transportation and Road Safety, Michal Frank:
I am happy that we are providing the residents of Haifa with an innovative and fun means of transportation. The office will continue to devote attention and resources to make sure that public resources that provide mass transportation are not stuck in a bureaucratic tangle and will work in the public interest.
In the brochure distributed to passengers, there is no operation on Saturday! Stops on Friday at 1600 and resumes on Saturday night at 2000
Stupid transportation that will torture Haifa into huge deficits of millions of shekels a year without real demand. Even a bus on Dori Road if they were to make a public transportation route would do it in ten minutes from the center of the Gulf to the Technion and another ten to the university. They threw NIS 300 million for nothing. The cable car, unlike the bus, does not spread through the faculties, so it requires another walk, sometimes a quarter of an hour, and extends the time compared to a bus
