Spring is upon us, and there's nothing like blossom trips in this season
This time I have chosen for you a beautiful plant that blooms in deep blue carpets - the gorgeous mountain lupine. I found you three blooming trips to the beautiful mountain lupine, all of them Free And without the need for prior coordination, and all within an hour's distance from Haifa.
Before we go, some facts you may not have known about lupine:
- The lupine is a protected flower, it must not be picked
- There are between 200 and 300 types of lupines in the world
- In the past, they used to eat cultivated lupine seeds as a snack, after cooking and soaking them several times in order to eliminate the toxins.
- The leaves of the lupine follow the sun. They start their day facing east, and end facing west

Mitzpe Nili - Ramot Menashe
The closest bloom to us is at Mitzpe Nili in the area of Ramot Menashe Park. At a distance of about half an hour's drive from Haifa, we will reach the "Tuscany of Israel" which is now in full bloom, and all of it is incredibly green. The park includes forests, nature reserves, agricultural areas and pastures.
Shortly before entering the settlement of Ramot Menashe, on the right side of the road, we will notice a small shed. I recommend stopping, and taking a few steps towards the direction.
There we will discover a beautiful observatory, a map, a commemorative corner in memory of Neely Kapman, an environmental sculpture, a view of green spaces, and a huge field of lupines.
All that's left for us now is to sit on the bench under the shed, breathe in the green and purple, sip tea or coffee from the PKL, then get up, go to the map, see this beautiful view, enjoy the blossoms, take a short walk, and continue on our way to enjoy the area this lovely

Tabor River Reserve
The Nahal Tabor reserve is now full of purple blooming carpets of lupins, which are concentrated under the Oren Lifshitz observatory.
The reserve is beautiful, full of green hills and an abundance of flowers, a flowing stream and a basalt canyon that makes us feel in Iceland.
In the reserve, you can do a short route of 3 km, or a long route of about 8 km, which also includes going down to the basalt canyon and crossing the stream.

I chose the short route for you, which includes a spectacular view, but does not include the descent to the canyon and crossing the stream.
We will park in the parking lot at Kibbutz Gazit and follow the red white red trail markings, on a 4x4 road. Later we will reach a split, where we will take the marking and from there we will connect to a blue marking.

The celebration begins!
This is where the celebration begins. The view that opens before our eyes is breathtaking, and reaches its peak inOren Lifshitz bird, named after the kibbutz who fell in Lebanon, here we find sitting areas made of stone and an amazing view of the entire canyon of the river below.
From here we circle the orchard on the blue route, and connect to the black path that takes us back to the red path to the parking lot.

A wonderful show
When you reach the Oren Lifshitz birdhouse, stop and look down. You will find impressive purple tapestries of the lupines that paint the place with purple dots, against a background of 50 shades of green. A wonderful show of nature. Get off, take a look, get excited, then continue the trip.
parking: There is an arranged parking lot
cost: Free
Making an appointment: No need to reserve a place in advance
reaching: Bevis - Kibbutz Gazit • Inside the kibbutz there is a sign to the parking lot.

Mountain Lupine Reserve, Neura
Here, in front of the views of the Gilboa Mountains and Emek Harod, we find a particularly impressive bloom. The road here is not paved and it must be taken into account that after the rains it may be muddy.
A KKL-Junk sign pointing to the "Lupine Trail" will indicate that we have reached the right place.

There is no real hiking trail, but there is a huge bloom (more than one carpet) of lupines. The lupins here are particularly tall, which invites children to play hide and seek in the paths between them.
