A controversial project

In a letter sent by David Castel, President of the Haifa and North Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Chairman of the Carriers' Council, Gabi Ben-Harosh, to Environment Minister Avi Gabai, the two demand that the restrictions on the entry of trucks into the lower city of Haifa be lifted at the end of the three-month pilot, since according to them the pilot has failed in practice.

The Ministry of Environmental Protection is working with all the means at its disposal in order to bring about a significant reduction in air pollution in Haifa for the well-being of local residents and to maintain their health. As part of this activity, the office leads the way in regulating the movement of polluting vehicles, including heavy trucks, which have a direct impact on air pollution and the health of local residents.
