Castel and Ben Harush
As I recall, during January 2016, the project to reduce pollution from transportation was launched. The project, led by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and in cooperation with the Haifa Municipality, received the blessing of Ben Harosh. However, today Ben Harosh explains that the promises given to the carriers were not fulfilled.

In a letter sent by David Castel, President of the Haifa and North Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Chairman of the Carriers' Council, Gabi Ben-Harosh, to Environment Minister Avi Gabai, the two demand that the restrictions on the entry of trucks into the lower city of Haifa be lifted at the end of the three-month pilot, since according to them the pilot has failed in practice.

The proofs and reasons for his failure are detailed in their application attached to this email:

The Ministry of Environmental Protection stated:

Ministry_of_Environment_Protection_-_logo.jpgThe Ministry of Environmental Protection is working with all the means at its disposal in order to bring about a significant reduction in air pollution in Haifa for the well-being of local residents and to maintain their health. As part of this activity, the office leads the way in regulating the movement of polluting vehicles, including heavy trucks, which have a direct impact on air pollution and the health of local residents. However, the claims of the representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry are not foreign to us and we are working in cooperation with the Haifa Municipality to allow suitable alternatives for trucks, if by means of traveling through the Carmel Tunnels and opening a regulated parking lot for trucks which is expected to happen in the coming days.
