One stroke of rain and already the lower city in Haifa is flooded • Photos from the field

Flooding in Haifa

Floods are not force majeure, they are caused when the surface runoff drainage system in the city fails to clear the amount of water flowing down the Carmel. Haifa has a difficult topography, since the Carmel drains huge amounts of water towards the coastal neighborhoods and the lower city. Flooding is caused when the urban surface runoff drainage system is not adjusted for flow or when the drainage grates on the roads are blocked by dirt that flows with the water, such as bags, cartons, etc. That being the case, in many cases there is a direct connection between dirt and flooding.

  1. It was a crazy downpour. A light drizzle began to rain in torrents. About a minute before the stairs of Megiddo St. were photographed, I passed by there and everything was still dry and suddenly a crazy wind started and a rainstorm that was out of this world. I wore a padded raincoat and managed to get soaked to the bone

  2. In the state of the jungle coalitions (predatory animals each looking to devour portions of the budget for their own tribe only) then there are millions for Torah culture, Arab culture and festive culture but are unable to treat the sewage.
Nothing new has happened here, every winter there are flooded neighborhoods. Once it was Bat Galim and Ein Hayam, once the lower city and once it was Hadar (yes, there were also floods on Masada Street). And don't forget some Kiryat Haim and Neve David for variety.
Happy holidays everyone. You will be watched and dined

    • How exactly will there be flooding in Hadar? Where are people sending messages from? from Tel Aviv? Was there a flood in Masada? Maybe he means Masada:); in Masada, even if it rains continuously for 24 hours, they will always reach the lowest point, which is in front of Basmat (the former brigade) and dance on the stairs on the road to Ben Yehuda: "Water, water, and Shashon..:) and from there the road to the lower city is short on all the slopes
