The city council this week approved 29 Haifa darlings for the years 2019-2020
The council approved the protocol of the Dear City Committee, headed by Likud Deputy Mayor Mr. Shimshon Ido. Among Haifa's beloved ones can be found the late Judith Zosmanovich, Makram Khouri, Prof. Rafi Biar, former Likud Deputy Mayor Rami Levy, Prof. Amos Gilhar.
In the list of beloved ones of the city of Haifa for the year 2019-2020 is the one who was the chairman of Naamat in the Haifa region, the late Judith Zosmanovich. With the agreement of all committee members, it was decided to give Zosmanovich the title immediately in her last days. Indeed, a few days after she received the certificate, in a very emotional ceremony at her home, Zosmanovich passed away.

Another Haifa darling is a Haifa theater actor, Makram Khouri. Khoury is an actor and director, winner of the Israel Prize for Theater, who joined the Haifa Theater Actors' Troupe and was a participant in many plays at the theater.
Rami Dotan is also among the winners. Dotan is a retired IDF officer, with the rank of lieutenant colonel. He served as the chairman of the Association for the Soldier, ran for mayor in 1989 and lost to the late former mayor Aryeh Gural. Dotan was a council member in the faction of the previous mayor, Yona Yahav.
The list also includes the person who managed the 'Fliman' medical center from 1994 until his retirement in 2016, Prof. Amos Gilhar. Prof. Gilhar is also an emeritus professor of dermatology at the Technion Faculty of Medicine, and since 1986 has been the head of the Skin, Hair and Aging Research Laboratory at the Technion Faculty of Medicine.
Another professor on the list is Prof. Arnon Sofer. He is Professor Emeritus of Geography and Environmental Sciences, one of the founders of Haifa University. Prof. Sofer is widely known for his research on the country in terms of demography, water and the environment.

The list also includes those who managed the Rambam Medical Center for many years
(2006-2019) and responsible for many of the innovations and reforms that have taken place over the years at the hospital - Prof. Rafi Biar. Prof. Biar is a cardiologist, catheterist and biomedical researcher of the heart systems. In addition, he served as a full professor in the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering and served as Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the Technion.

Another beloved Haifa will be the one who was the deputy mayor on behalf of the Likud for 18 years, Rami Levy. He was a member of the council on behalf of the Likud for three decades and in the last elections in 2018 he did not pass the percentage of blocking.
Other Haifa darlings are Ora Haim, Ariela Cana, Yehudit Ofer, Latifah Rahami, Margalit Binyamini, Rachel Ashrov, Dr. Ran Lin, Dr. Shlomo Markel, Rabbi Eliyahu Rahami Zaini, Vladimir Petrov, Haim Willinger, Yaakov Bezek, D. R. Yitzhak Antavi, Benzi Katz, Nissim Shekalim, Azriel Dansky, Fathi Furani, Shai Horev, Shlomi Manger, David Castel, Rachel Katner Yaniv and Yosef Yekuthiali.
eight women
We cannot ignore the fact that out of 29 Haifa darlings, there are only 8 women, only about 25%. The question arises, are there no worthy women in Haifa? In the academy, in local politics, in the theater, in the hospitals? It is clear that this is not the case, so this is an outrageous and clearly unreasonable gap.
It should be noted that the list was not confirmed immediately. In August, the names were brought before the committee, but the list was rejected. Council members said at the time that they were not comfortable with the list of names, especially in light of the fact that they received the resumes of the candidates only a few hours before the meeting on the subject, and did not have time to delve into them properly. The committee met again in October and only then was an agreement reached regarding the names of those appearing in it.
It's really worth being the darling of the city.

I didn't understand why categorically state that there are only 8 women on the list?
If it was the other way around (8 men only) would you also mention that?
I wonder what the criteria are to be the darling of the city. Do the decision makers know Rami Dotan's background? Did they check apart from his blessed military activity? Don't want to get dirty...
I didn't understand what the connection is with 8 women, 10 thin, 14 with degrees, 7 who got sick with Corona, 0 Ethiopians, 10 former immigrants, 15 who were not born in Haifa, 21 who like to eat omelette or 2 LGBT.
What gender, sex, preferences and origin should always be criteria to check who is chosen??
If someone has donated enough then let them choose. Unworthy people were chosen, whose whole purpose is "gender slot"
And this is also the problem in the public service, the need to promote incompetent people just to fill missing slots...
right!!!!!!!!!
Half an article. Why not briefly tell the story of all the others? Why does the late lady have 2 photos while the others have none at all?
If the city council approved Rami Levy.. then I would not want my name on the list he is on..
shocking.
I am 76 years old and have lived in Haifa all my life since my birthday
I do not know and have not heard of most of the dear ones who were chosen
I wonder how they are chosen
All the dear ones of the city deserve to have their story told, not just the 7 chosen ones, of which only one is a woman. (14%).
I am 76 years old, I have been in Haifa all my life
I haven't heard of most of the dear ones
I wonder how they are chosen
Indeed, these people deserve to be the darlings of Haifa. Shabbos Shalom.
If you write about the city's loved ones, there is no doubt that they are worthy people one by one. Why do you increase words about some of them and put the rest under the words "additional city darlings are x, y, z" without any reference to who they are and their work and their uniqueness. Thus diminishing their value. I was disappointed in the article.
Haifa is a city full of influential women. where are they here
