A short distance from us Haifaites, we can find the beauty of the Jezreel Valley. Today I invite you to one of the most impressive views of the valley.
In the area of Beit Shaarim, near the settlement of Tivon, and near the national park, you will find Alcheko - a statue of Alexander Zeid, mounted on his horse and looking proudly eastward, to the rising sun, and to the magnificent view of the entire Jezreel Valley and the Carmel.

The monument was erected by the sculptor David Bolus in 1940 at the top of Givat Zeid, near the family farm. On the sides of the monument are bronze reliefs, which indicate the work of the guards. At the foot of the statue is the tomb of Sheikh Ibrick with two domes.

On the northern side of the hill are the remains of an ancient public building, which unfortunately is quite neglected. Some claim that this building is the seat of the Sanhedrin in Beit Shearim.

The site is open at all hours of the day. It is recommended to combine with a visit to Beit Shaarim, with the Valleys Park or Mein Elroi, or with sections of the Sanhedrin Trail.
There is an audio guide. There are no additional services for travelers, but right next door is the Beit Shaarim National Park. You can even park in Beit Shearim, and walk to the statue.

Did you know?
Who was Alexander Zeid?
Alexander Zeid was one of the first Jewish guards in Israel. He immigrated to Israel in 1904 as part of the Zionist labor movement. Zaid is one of the founders of the "Bar Giora" organization, followed by "Hashomer". In 1926 he established an agricultural farm in this place and was employed as a guard in the area as part of the National Fund for Israel. He was attacked several times by Arab rioters and overcame them. On the night of the 11.7.1938th of Tammuz XNUMX (XNUMX), the days of the Great Arab Revolt, he was murdered by a Bedouin while he was on his way to a yeshiva in a group of Alonim.
