Forestry work has begun in the "Givat Nesher" area as part of the "Trails of Fire" project

Nesher Municipality continues the "Fire Trails" project, which is designed to protect the city from fires in accordance with the instructions the municipality received from the Coastal District Fire and Rescue Authority. As part of the project, forestry works began this week in the "Givat Nesher" area and are expected to last for about three months.

As you remember, the great fire in Carmel in December 2010, (the Carmel disaster) claimed many lives. Following it, the State Comptroller ordered the implementation of actions to protect settlements against forest and forest fires. In this framework, the National Fire Authority ordered the creation of a buffer around houses bordering forests in settlements adjacent to wooded areas. Nesher Municipality is working on the issue and even embarked on a large-scale project already in 2014. This is a multi-year plan and even now the "Fire Trails" project continues.

As part of the continuation of the "Fire Trails" project, which is designed to protect the city from fires, forestry work began this week in the "Givat Nesher" area using licensed pruning contractors, in accordance with the instructions the municipality received from the Coastal District Fire and Rescue Authority.

The works are carried out in coordination with KKL-Junk and the Nature and Parks Authority, in the park bordering the streets: Ma'afilim, Aliya and Rakfot, and near the "Beit Yehoshua" school, and they include: pruning, felling of trees and thinning of vegetation, for the purpose of making "fire trails" and creating buffer zones between The dense forest of the Carmel forests and the houses of the residents. The works are also intended to expand the access roads to the wooded area so that the fire services and other emergency services can provide a quick and efficient response in the event that, God forbid, a fire breaks out. The works are expected to last about three months.

District_Hoof_Fire.jpgThe National Authority for Fire and Rescue - Coast District say: "The best way to put out a fire is to prevent it. The fire trails are a multi-year, essential project, designed to protect the lives of the residents of Nesher and nearby settlements. It is worth giving up a few trees in order to "earn" more trees if, God forbid, a fire breaks out. We welcome the works and The fruitful cooperation between the Fire and Rescue Authority and the Municipality of Nesher."

"Nesher Municipality is working to implement the instructions of the fire services and to protect the safety of its residents"

AVI_BINAMO.jpgBinamo: "As witnesses to the huge fires that were in our areas, and out of concern and planning for the needs of the city's residents, it is our duty to act according to the instructions of the fire services, when the great challenge is to preserve the natural environment of the Carmel while reducing the fear of the development of flammability near the residences. Nesher Municipality provides the required safety response and This guarantees the maintenance of a green eagle forever."

"Nesher Municipality has committed that under each tree that is recommended to be removed by the Fire Authority, KKL-Junk or the Nature and Parks Authority, 2 trees will be planted in accordance with the prior approval and advice received from these authorities" said Binmo, and instructed the various parties this week to speed up the implementation of the project as quickly as possible in order to minimize the disturbance that may be caused to the residents.

"I also appeal to the residents, please show patience and forbearance during the work period, help the municipality and avoid blocking roads or interference in the area of the work areas. The fire paths, in the future, can also be used as bicycle paths and walking paths, alongside the neighborhoods bordering the park and the natural forest, so that these paths will even become A center for leisure activities for residents."
