Shush Colleen tells about herself:
I am a very emotional woman, Sagittarius, love freedom and very much believe in the path and the things that I dedicate myself to.
A vegetarian since the age of 6, I came to vegetarianism from a personal experience that brought me to the recognition of the suffering of animals.
I try to do everything to help and protect the helpless and weak in society.
I believe from the bottom of my heart in providing good and equal opportunities to people, especially children.
Loves music, books, nature and scenery.
I like to socialize with people and I enjoy working with children.

what is your profession
Teaching English, a regional franchise of Helen Doron Ltd.
Previous busy?
Management of the Statistics Department, Egged Co.
When and how did you start learning English using the Helen Doron method in Haifa?
After I resigned from Egged, and worked for a short time at Kach Adam, I decided that I wanted to be self-employed and no longer employed.
By chance (and there are no coincidences in life) I came across Helen Doron's English learning kit for children at my good friend's place, at that moment two insights came together for me: the English that runs in my mouth, and the love for children.
I called Helen and joined the teacher course under her guidance. And for 30 years I have held various positions in the company and still enjoy every moment of teaching English.
The joy of creating, the success of the students and the pure enjoyment of the experience of teaching and teamwork empower me every day.
From your point of view, what will be your main contribution to the children of Haifa in particular and to the city of Haifa?
Our students are fluent in the English language and love the language.
They are chosen again and again to represent the school children in youth exchange delegations in different countries (USA, Germany, Australia and more...)
Beyond imparting the language, we deal with education in the broadest sense of the word.
Mixed groups of children from different origins, creating an atmosphere of respect and acceptance of the different, the other.
Interaction between the children that is based on mutual support and not on competitiveness and war over grades, mutual tolerance and compassion, these are values that deserve to be instilled.
We hold English classes in many places in Haifa, study centers in Carmel, in the German settlement, in Dalit El Carmel, in community centers and in schools as part of the enrichment classes of the students' homes.
And what are your plans for promoting the English language in Haifa?
Add as many children as possible to English learning frameworks using the Helen Doron method, give an opportunity to as many children as possible to become native English speakers, integrate the teaching method already within the framework of kindergartens throughout Haifa (there is still incomprehensible opposition among Ministry of Education inspectors) and not only in private kindergartens .
On a personal level, what appeals to you most about Helen Doron's teaching method?
I was fascinated by the idea behind Helen Doron's method of teaching the language to children as a mother tongue without pressure, without exams and grades, but through poetry, drama, play and enjoyment for both the student and the teacher.
Studying in small groups of up to 8 children in a group sitting on the carpet, the children and the teacher playing together, behind the eyes, the songs and the laughter that unfolds during the lessons.
What can you tell us about the activity you coordinate in your center in Haifa?
The study centers in Haifa in Carmel, the German Colony and Badlit El Carmel are characterized by a constructive and supportive study atmosphere.
The entire staff, teachers and secretaries are attentive to children and parents, today over 200 children from the age of two to eleventh graders study in the study centers.
Some of the children have been with us for a large number of years, and even though they speak English, they enroll in continuation classes due to the special educational experience and because this is almost the only place that allows them to express themselves freely in English about topics in fine literature, current affairs, and personal experiences.
They know that their positions and opinions will be listened to and respected.
One of the nicest things I come across is parents who enroll their children in English classes because they (the parents) fondly remember their personal experience when they were my students in their youth.
If you could change one thing in the field of English in Haifa, what would you change?
Integrates the English classes within the kindergartens as enrichment studies in the morning hours.
