It was a special project of KKL-Junk and the "Yad Ezer Shevre" association. The Holocaust survivors, the residents of the association's "Beit Hamam for Holocaust Survivors" cleaned their surroundings and their living area together with the students of the 4th grade of the 80th grade of the "Harieli" school, in the Hadar branch in Haifa The many Holocaust survivors and school students worked side by side during the exciting day. It's not every day that you see such a spectacle of Holocaust survivors aged 90, 14 and even older next to teenage students aged XNUMX. The excitement was evident on the faces of the Holocaust survivors and the students alike.
The event was held in the presence of the chairman of the National Fund for Israel, Mr. Efi Stanzler, who said: "The importance of the cleanup day in terms of KKL-Junk is not only for cleanliness, but much more than that. Our goal is mainly educational, to keep nature clean, to raise public awareness of the preservation on the environment and to support and thank those who keep the environment and its cleanliness, with the understanding that a person who respects the environment more respects both others and society in general and thereby contributes to a more just, more considerate and better society, and I see here today in the integration of Holocaust survivors into society a tremendous legacy."
At the end of the event, Mr. Shimon Sabag, CEO and founder of the "Yad Ezer Havre" association, presented Mr. Stantzler with a certificate of appreciation on behalf of Holocaust survivors, and said: "I see the cooperation with the National Fund for Israel as closing the circle of Holocaust survivors, the residents of the "Beit Ha'am for survivors The Holocaust" is here with us in the association, who in their youth, as part of their love for their homeland, also contributed to KKL-Junk for the building of the state."
