In 2015, Stamberg was awarded the coveted title of "Dear Haifa City", Shalom was also "Dear Beit Shean City" and "Dear Histadrut", his motto for life was always "To remember and not to forget!". Recently, he was infected with the corona virus, which overwhelmed him, even though last week he was also vaccinated with the third dose of the vaccine. Stamberg left behind his wife Zelda, 2 daughters, 7 grandsons and granddaughters and 8 great-grandchildren.

Shalom Shtemberg survived 5 concentration camps including Dachau, Birkenau, Buchenwald and more and survived with tremendous bravery the Auschwitz extermination camp where he lost his father and mother and many members of his family to the Nazis and this when he was only a 16-year-old boy. Shalom Shtemberg volunteered for many years at the "Yad Ezer Shevre" association in Haifa, giving many lectures to groups of school students, soldiers, and delegations from abroad visiting the association's "Holocaust Museum" in the Hadar neighborhood in Haifa.

Upon learning of his death, the founder and CEO of the "Yad Ezer Heber" association, Mr. Shimon Sebag, said: "It is painful and sad that a personal friend of mine and a dear brother to me for many years passed away, Shalom Shtamberg, who was both the beloved of the city of Haifa and the beloved of the city of Beit Shean, with whose hands he founded Beit The first cinema in the city and the football team Hapoel Beit Shean. Stamberg, volunteered for many years in the association "Yad Ezer Habev" and was a lecturer for students, delegations from abroad and more when he does this as a full volunteer. In his lectures he told the students about the story of his brave and extraordinary survival of the Auschwitz extermination camp. He was awarded the "Shield of Social Justice" And we celebrated a moving Bar Mitzvah celebration for him, and this after the Nazis robbed him of it during the Holocaust. He left a mark on the association and the city of Haifa in general, and we at the association will find the honorable and proper way to perpetuate his memory for the sake of future generations, may his memory be blessed."

A year ago, the former mayor, Yona Yahav, said moving things about Stamberg: "I never called Shalom by his name, I always called him "Sholem" in the Yiddish language. Sholem, he had a regular custom, whenever he wanted to meet with me, he was not interested in it at all." Z of the mayor, who was always busy, he would simply come to my office in the municipal building on Hasan Shukri Street and stand at the door with his smile, so how could I refuse him, I would always let him in, and thus it was a great privilege for me, and thus we had a great acquaintance Beautiful years."
