Yesterday (Saturday, 29/5/21) the Israel Championship for children and youth was held in the sports hall in the Kiryat-Eliezer neighborhood in Haifa with the participation of over 120 fencers from all over the country.
Among the clubs that took part in the competition were "Sif Beer Sheva Club", Petah Tikva Club, Kfar Saba, Maccabi Haifa, Hapoel Haifa, Megiddo, Emek Jezreel, Acre and Gilboa.
30 fencers from the urban fencing club Hapoel Haifa participated in the competition.
At the end of the competition, the fencer Omri Rogel, from the city fencing club, was crowned as Israel's vice champion and Yoel Cohen Skelley won third place. Other fencers from the club - Nathai Offenberg, Amit Meshulam, Ksenia Timofeev, Arbel Offenberg, Anna Konev, Itamar Ariel, Noya Shlisser, Roni Meir, Hila Buchnik and Eitan Cohen Skelly, qualified for the finals and were one fight away from the podium.

The urban fencing club has been operating in Kiryat Eliezer for over 30 years, during which it has produced dozens of Israeli champions, a world champion and an Olympic fencer. These days the club is in the process of building a new generation and recruiting children, who may be the next champions.

The Haifa municipality is proud of the existence and activity of a city fencing club in the city. I hope that events like the one held today, where the club hosted over 120 athletes from all over the country, will continue to take place in Haifa and bring great honor to the city.
