Erez Kita, CEO of the Green Or Association:
Every year we see the hard data of injuries to young people, with no sign of a significant decrease and in many cases an alarming increase. Accidents of young people mostly have very clear characteristics, so they are not destiny and there are ways to fight them and prevent them. Young people will be involved in accidents in many cases after spending time at night and prevention efforts should be invested accordingly. The Ministry of Transportation and Road Safety must take care of efficient public transportation at night, one that will allow young people to avoid driving after the entertainment and will help them get home safely. At the same time, the police must increase the number of police officers and vehicles in the area and increase targeted enforcement to the recreation centers, in a way that will deter young drivers from driving dangerously under the influence of alcohol, and endangering their lives and the lives of other road users. Only by combining the efforts of all parties can we reduce the number of casualties and prevent unnecessary accidents.
