How does lying on the ground during rocket fire save lives?

When a rocket hits the ground, it is better to be as close to the ground as possible and to reduce as much as possible the height of the silhouette of our body and the area of ​​its exposure. This is because most of the warheads of the rockets and missiles have a steel casing, which creates many dangerous fragments in a very dense distribution. These shrapnel directly hit the ground only in a very small area near the place of the explosion, but in most of the area exposed to impact and as you move away from the place of the explosion - the flight path of the shrapnel is diagonal and upwards.

When staying in a vehicle during a warning - stay away from the vehicle

Danger of flaming, broken glass and exposure to shrapnel - even though the vehicle is seen as a relatively protected place, staying in it while missiles and rockets are being fired increases the risk we face.

A large part of our daily routine includes travel. For example, on the way to and from work, dropping the children off at school or classes, visiting grandparents, meeting friends, shopping and hanging out. Even during the firing of rockets or missiles at the residents of the country, it is recommended to maintain your daily routine, in accordance with the instructions of the Home Front Command.
 
The instructions according to which we must act upon receiving a warning about rocket or missile fire instruct us to stop the vehicles on the side of the road, turn off the engine and get out of it as safely as possible. If there is a nearby building or shelter, which can be reached according to the time of defense in the area where we are staying, we must enter them. If there is no structure or shelter nearby, lie on the ground and protect your head with your hands.
