The security situation in the neighborhood worries the residents of Haifa

The residents of Hadar are looking for solutions to restore the sense of personal security in the neighborhood

In the last month and a half, there has been a wave of violence on Masada Gal Street: the burning of a store and residential building, the throwing of a stun grenade, a Molotov cocktail, and shootings. The concerned residents of Mesada Street demand that the situation be addressed immediately. At the same time, the Hadar Carmel council is making efforts to improve the security situation in the neighborhood in front of the Haifa municipality. Dana Goldring, the founder of the project "Lights up at night" last week held a tour with the representatives of the municipality on the topic of personal security in the neighborhood.

A mother of children who has lived on Masada Street for about four years, says that in the last four months the level of violence in the neighborhood has increased. "As a resident of the neighborhood, I wonder if it is safe for me and my family to stay here and raise my children. We are young people at the beginning of our journey, with the potential to make the neighborhood a pleasant and good place, but my friends and neighbors are also thinking about whether to leave due to the situation. There should be a presence here of factors that do Enforcement and order. People want to feel protected in their homes and outside of them. This is treatment that does not tolerate delay or waiting for the budget."

In addition to the fire that broke out a month and a half ago in one of the buildings on the street, last week a stun grenade was thrown, shots were fired from a gun and a Molotov cocktail was thrown at gas cylinders. Car vandalism, window smashing and vandalism have already become almost commonplace, and residents find themselves thinking several times before leaving the house in the evening and at night.

Ron Rosen, who lives in Masada, said to Lahi Fe:

It's a week of unrest. The residents are really anxious. Masada Street is under attack, as if we are a combat zone in Syria. Every few hours the residents ask each other "what is this explosion" or "what are these shots" and it just doesn't end. We are at a loss and don't really know what to do. Miraculously, the gas cylinders that were thrown at them with a Molotov cocktail did not get showered. The security forces arrive quickly and the police handle isolated cases, but a comprehensive treatment of the root of the matter is needed.

Nina Mizrahi, the owner of the "Monina" taxi, a taxi intended for women and girls (which was established precisely because of the need for personal security, which is lacking), told Lahi Fe that in the last few weeks her car was broken into three times, on Hillel Street and nearby streets. She is not the only one, of course (see link to the article from last Friday 7/5/21)

The efforts of the Hadar Carmel Council in cooperation with the Haifa Municipality and the Haifa Police

In the past year, the Hadar Carmel Council carried out various activities to change the deteriorating security situation in the neighborhood: a demonstration was held in front of the police station in Hadar and meetings were held with the former Haifa station commander Amir Goldstein, a series of meetings were held with the district commander and his predecessor Moshe Adler and a meeting with the security coordinator of the Haifa municipality. The Hadar Carmel council held tours with the director general of the municipality and the head of the operations manager. In addition, the police representatives offered the residents to enlist as volunteers for the neighborhood watch.

Ofer Fix, from the Hadar Carmel Council:

The Hadar Council works in all directions. It seems that Haifa Municipality understands the importance of dealing with the issue of personal security and I hope we will see significant actions in the near future.

Tour on personal security

Last Wednesday (5/5/21) a tour on the topic of personal security was held in Hadar, led by Beatriz Katz Rosen, Advisor to the Mayor of Haifa for the Promotion of Gender Equality, Dana Goldring, a social entrepreneur and founder of "Meirat Bila" - a project to promote personal security in the streets, the top of the organization "Woman to Woman", representatives of the Hadar Carmel Council, representatives of the municipality, headed by Chief Operations Officer - Ohad Dorfman, Yair Zilberman in charge of security and emergency, director of the lighting department and other departments, together with the residents.
The tour of the streets included, among other things, the building that burned down in Masada.

Dana Goldring, founder of Meirat Bila, wrote on the project's page after the tour:

The discourse that took place is a discourse of many years, with the aim of enlightening, changing and improving the sense of security on the street for residents of the Hadar neighborhood, starting with lighting, pruning, traffic, cases of violence, break-ins, sexual harassment and of course also grooming and infrastructure. Our ambition is to change the existing situation with the belief that it is necessary and possible otherwise.

Also, "light up at night" allows Fill out an anonymous report form for neighborhood improvement proposals in all areas.

The Hoof District Police informed Lahi Fe - the news corporation:
"Police operations are conducted in accordance with situation assessments that are carried out from time to time. The police operate both on the overt and covert levels. As part of those operations, the police arrested a Haifa resident a short time ago on suspicion of involvement in the acts. Beyond what has been said, we will not be able to detail the police's activities through the media."

  1. crazy,
Where did we get to?! A third world country, a neighborhood called Zoba Hadar! Because an example in Netanya, in neighborhoods that are in need, they treated the Mishtra station and Mehz Shekat! There are enough abandoned buildings in Hadar Hashar to turn them into police and security stations

  2. Deprive the offenders of their identity card and driver's license permanently!!!

  3. The city inspectors will be converted into police officers and instead of recording parking reports they will take care of the safety of the citizens.

  4. Coexistence has always existed in Haifa. Now a strange situation has arisen. I don't think escalation and pouring oil on the fire is what will help. There are extremists. It needs to be taken care of...and seriously
…..and to calm the spirits..not to excite them.

  5. This does not only happen on Masada Street, also on Leon Blum Street they light cans and cause fires.

  6. Yellows, you always hugged them and shouted in the streets of the city coexistence eat what you cooked.
Klish and her terrorists will save you

  7. Everything was done by the Arab gangs and accomplices Shihav and Tsena brought from Samaria into Haifa. They took over businesses in Masada through crime and violent threats.
The time has come to return them to Jenin and Nablus and it is better to go home to Jordan and Iraq.

  8. In Haifa there is no coexistence, there is an existential fantasy except for washed up words and corrupt politics which is based on a very cautious approach like an elephant in a china shop in front of the Arabs, anything, if only half, exists here.
Coexistence is a fantasy that has never been realized enough to add salt to the eyes of the residents and you cute Jews will continue to support those rioters ha ha big on you.

  9. There must be a police presence and also city policing in this neighborhood especially in the evening hours. Please, Einat, intervene in this. good night

  10. You deserve it, keep hiring them. and go to restaurants to eat with them. Even though they spit and masturbate on your plate. check with (colbotek)
It's time to let them bankrupt all the restaurants in the German colony. They are the tenants of Israel.
Do not buy or employ these terrorists!!!
Also from an amphitheater that collects funds for terrorists in Gaza. For me, two or three years. So they have a shopping strike in every store and business of theirs from the south to the north. In peace like the war???

  11. It is time to bring back the military government. and impose a curfew on cities, villages and Arab neighborhoods. No leaving the house between 6:00 in the evening and 0:600 in the morning. Stop buying from Westerners and hire Arab professionals. This is the language they understand. Wake up Haifa resident there is no coexistence. There is only coexistence.

  12. Dear Masada St. residents,
I'm sorry for you, but if you think that salvation will come to you from the capital, forget about it or rather, keep dreaming. You are not interested in her because the property tax you pay is low. In addition, if you think that those who pay more get more, here too you are wrong. Just look at the city roads. The streets of Gaza after the air force bombings look better.

  13. Haifa is a promiscuous city, the security of the Azeri has never been and speaks of a very serious situation that an Israeli citizen cannot move in the areas of Haifa, especially in Hadar Elyon and the central streets, which are full of accomplices who immigrated to Haifa, drunken, drugged Eritreans and other foreign citizens whose dangerous behavior hinders the security of the citizen and, unfortunately, the enforcement is not appropriate at all as a native of Haifa For over seventy years, the situation is more difficult than it has ever been

  14. It is important to address the issue as soon as possible or there will be an influx of the normative population from the street. Security is the most basic human need.

  15. Install cameras in every street, everywhere, as is customary in developed countries, and immediately see the rioters, who are sure to be arrested later, but at least we can identify who. The State of Israel, the municipality of Haifa will start to wake up, these are real riots!!!

  16. I feel in the first person the exhaustion of her hand (at best) or her support (at worst) against me in the face of the terror that my neighbor has been using against me for over eight years, so I was not surprised.

  17. The main thing is that you posted an article about coexistence a few days ago, so it's not coexistence or shoes, it's Arabs who do these things.
