In the late 60s, Carmeli was one of the founders of the Israeli television branch in Haifa, and served for many years as a television reporter in Haifa and the entire northern region. He used to open many of his writings with the famous sentence "Here is Amos Carmeli from Haifa". During his 60 years of work, he created about 3000 articles and documentary films. for his activity on Israeli television. At the beginning of 2000, he was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Haifa and North Journalist Chamber for his many years of journalistic activity. Amos Carmeli was married to Tamar (Frankel) and the father of Ran Carmeli, a film director, and Alon.
