The Allenby Interchange will be opened to traffic, thus allowing additional exits and entrances to the Bat Galim neighborhood.
The Allenby interchange and the place intended for the construction of a surfers' club in the Bat Galim neighborhood had until today one exit and one entrance (from the old Egged intersection).
The situation created a transportation bottleneck and even created risks for the residents of the neighborhood (in the case of the need for immediate evacuation of residents).
Sderot Hagana Allenby Interchange Maritime Museum Allenby Interchange was originally built as an interchange that was supposed to serve the marina. It was built without a permit during the period when the mayor of Haifa was Amram Metzna.
In the first phase, about NIS 54 million were invested in the interchange, but its construction was stopped by a judge's order, because the marina was not approved by the planning institutions and its construction, as mentioned, was advanced against the law.
This is how the interchange stood for about 10 years, when it had 2 tracks in each direction, on an imaginary route to the north (into the sea - towards the marina that was never approved), until finally it was decided to complete the construction of the Allenby interchange on a different route from the original route for which it was designed.
Demolition of the surfers' club for the construction of the interchange
In the final stage, the municipality of Haifa destroyed the surfers' club, which had existed there for decades, and undertook to build a modern surfers' club in its place.
For the time being, surfing activity has stopped at the site and surfers are content in the meantime with finding alternative improvised surfing spots
The surfers' club that was destroyed in Bat Galim - in the place where the Allenbiv interchange was established, the updated design turned westward, with one route in each direction, in and out of the Bat Galim neighborhood.
The interchange goes down to the Agora square on Hatchelet Street and from there the road branches back to the Bat Galim neighborhood.
An additional NIS 35 million was invested in the completion of the interchange. A total of about NIS 90 million was invested in the interchange, in both the first and second stages.

The construction of the club's skeleton will begin soon, but its completion is unknown, since a budget has not yet been found to carry out the finishing works.
