Members of the city council from the municipal opposition went on a tour of the Lev Hesh association today, against the backdrop of the Haifa municipality's threat to evict the association from the building where it resides, on Hashomer Street. The building contains a dental clinic, a club for Holocaust survivors as well as storage of furniture, food items and clothing for those in need. There are also large refrigerators containing frozen food. The Haifa Municipality's response is given in full at the end of the article.

Haifa Municipality's response:
The municipality of Haifa offered the "Lev Hesh" association a number of alternatives for the school structure, which is required by the education system and whose eviction is required by the Ministry of Education.
The municipality's proposal was given in light of the need to ensure education under appropriate conditions for all the city's children and the requirement of the Ministry of Education to vacate buildings that were built with the purpose of being used as schools and that are not used for this purpose.
The municipality of Haifa approached the management of the association, which has been operating in a school building for more than a year, with a proposal to move its activities to alternative properties, which would provide a solution, both for the association's offices, for the storage and display of the furniture, and for the activities of the dental clinic operated by it.
In this framework, the representatives of the municipality held two tours with the heads of the association already during the month of June, during which they were presented with a number of alternative properties, which will ensure the continuation of its activities.
The representatives of the association, which has been operating for years without a regulated allocation in the school building, which is mostly used for storage purposes, chose to ignore all the requests and proposals of the municipality.
Under these circumstances, the municipality acts according to the requirement of the Ministry of Education and its commitment to the residents of the city and their children, to restore the building to its original purpose as a school.
The Municipality of Haifa supports and assists the activities of non-profit organizations, which work for the benefit of the public, but this cannot come at the expense of the children, their well-being and their educational needs.
Therefore, each property allocation, carried out by the municipality, is examined in depth, among other things according to the nature of the activity, the scope, the geographic location of the property and the manner in which the building was allocated.
Meanwhile, the needs of the education system, the shortage of schools and the announcement of the Ministry of Education, according to which it will not allow budgets for the construction and development of educational institutions, as long as there are buildings that are not used for their original purpose.
The fact that the building was given in the distant past for a fixed period of time, at a time when it was not needed for municipal activity and its original purpose, does not justify the association's continued activity in the building when it is needed for the benefit of the children of the neighborhood.
We regret that instead of cooperating with the municipality's proposals, which will ensure its continued existence, the association refuses to return the building and chooses to wage a public struggle on the backs of the residents and their children.
A coral joy greater than life bless you, may the free eaters hear you
Stop with food subsidies!
Want to support, give a check to me,
Let the supporter decide what is good for him, don't interfere with his plate.
I repeat my suspicion again,
that some of the food comes back to the seller or to other businesses or to the families of the associations,
There is no transparency, so any suspicion is allowed.
I am ashamed of the disgusting comments, how evil.
I and many neighbors receive food from the association and without it we would not have food.
So please stop being nice.
I don't wish you to be in our shoes
I wish the mayor that she will need it and stand in line to receive help from Lev Hash Association.
It's disgusting to shut down an association that does sacred work, how low can you go, shame on you.
1. Another takeover by the wearers of the black caps. They multiply quickly and need more and more resources at the expense of the general public.
2. At the entrance to the association's furniture store there is a large sign that mentions the word "for those in need". I remember passing there, seeing it and thinking that even if I was "in need", I wouldn't go in there and use their services. Despite the good intentions, etc., etc.. even if I am in a bad financial situation, I would not want to feel threatened.
You should be sensitive and choose words respectfully.

In the response of the director general of the municipality, Ohad Segev, he no longer hides that the goal during this process is to hand over more public buildings in Hadar to the ultra-Orthodox in Hadar. This is part of the efforts of the ultra-Orthodox occupation, and of course the director general of the municipality is committed to the political commitment that the mayor promised
It will certainly not end in this building, or in Gabrieli, or in the Hadar community center.
The secular public is proud and complacent, must organize itself politically and fight for the color of its neighborhood before it is too late.
According to what I have heard, Haifa Municipality is not telling the truth!!!!!
I am of the opinion that it is permissible for the municipality to relocate them, but to a suitable place!!!!!!!
Establish the "House of Associations" in Beit Maccabi on Shabtai Levi Street and rent the building at a reduced price to any association that receives official recognition and works with the municipality. It is a large building between 3 neighborhoods Nissens, Moshava and Hadar in an excellent location for the association's activities.
Or return to the seller?
Why are the names of the "supported" confidential?
Why are the criteria confidential?
Who guarantees that the food does not reach such and such businesses?
