The residents of Haifa have recently been suffering from poor service at Israel Post
Since the beginning of the corona crisis, in many neighborhoods, the Israel Post has begun to route the mail to the central branches: the Prophets Post Office and the Post Office located in the lower city of Haifa, so that all the neighborhoods such as Neve Sha'anan, Carmel Sharfati, the Carmel Center, and more, have started receiving notices about collection from these two branches. outside their neighborhoods.
It is understood that this is unnecessary and unjustified harassment, especially in this period, when, following the closures and restrictions, people rarely leave their homes and are unable to go and collect their packages, and because of this, the packages are returned. If that is not enough, it should be remembered that there is also an elderly population for whom collection from post offices outside their neighborhood is almost impossible.
This decision by Israel Post to transfer the packages received to the main branches caused a great load in these exact branches. Precisely during this period, when distance must be maintained, this is not feasible, as there is a crowding of people who come, as mentioned, from many neighborhoods in the city.

Unfathomable burdens
The congestion in other branches, such as the Carmel area, was caused by the closing of the main post office that was on Wedgwood Street in the past, and temporarily moved to Keller Street, until it finally closed for good. Today, the residents of the Carmel Center and the nearby neighborhoods are forced to go to the small, neighborhood branch on Sderot Hanasi and also to the branch in Moriah, which causes congestion in both branches, especially the Hanasi branch, which is an especially small branch.

"The situation is getting worse"
The trend of inefficient service and the lack of response at the post offices started even earlier, in recent years and is only getting worse year by year, the residents claim.
The residents of Neve Shanan tell: "We don't understand why people who live close to post offices in their neighborhood that continue to operate, need to be referred to pick up packages from Hadar Post or located in the lower city. When we contact the 171 hotline, the operators do not answer questions and all they have to say is "that's what it is."

The Hai Pa system contacted the Israel Post several times, with specific and targeted questions, in order to get answers that would help the residents understand the decisions, but no answers were given as expected.

The Israel Post gave Lahi Pa in response:
The Israel Post is one of the few entities that continues to provide service in the city even in this complex period and in the city of Haifa postal services are provided through 49 postal units, including 23 registered mail and package delivery centers that operate long and flexible hours. Under postal units that are closing, the Israel Post Company presents alternatives in order to continue providing services to its customers. Moreover, we recommend our customers to make an appointment in advance, on the website or at Moked 171, thus reducing the length of time they wait at the branch.
3 branches in my residential area were closed.
I received a message about registered mail.
The address of the branch to which I should contact is not clear.
There is no telephone response from branches in Carmel.
Simply bad and infuriating service!
The issue of reducing postal centers is extremely troubling!
In addition, messages are sent without being able to know where to turn...
I am very happy that someone is finally publishing the Israel Post scandal, packages are not always received every day, in the center of Carmel where many elderly people live, even before the Corona they closed the branches, claiming that the building in Keller is dangerous. The Denar closed, and every day small children enter the same building for kindergarten, which is located at the same entrance, as the branch was. Sorry, I don't get it???? Let's go back for a moment to the older people, who nowadays have to run for every stamp/envelope, sending a registered letter, to find a balm far from a place of origin. Just to remind you that the Corona period has also arrived, and there are quite a few elderly people who are alone, and without wheels. Why doesn't any body, government/municipality, address the multitude of claims/requests, it's been a long time, to return a post office to the center of Carmel? I believe someone needs to wake up here. Thank you on behalf of many retirees.?
In addition to everything that is described in the article (which I also know the phenomenon closely as a resident of a neighborhood in the Nosh area that has been transferred in recent years to about 10 branches or collection centers for various reasons) I must add the delay (which has already caused me to foreclose on an incorrect small report and timely notification and handling were saving heartache) and the disdain for distributing the mail in the personal boxes (many letters are placed in the wrong building when the address is written very clearly) and even disdain for the customer who dares to complain about it.
Israel Post is a failed company - they close branches instead of optimizing branches and investing in a new and fresh workforce, which will help them make more money in the long term at least and remain relevant even as a centralized industry. Today they are a woefully inefficient company; They must invest in automation and precisely open branches that will be mainly distribution centers and nothing else - payments and sending letters a person can and should do online and anyone who doesn't is a criminal against humanity.
They also closed the post office in Kiryat Sheprintak as well as in Kiryat Eliezer. Places where many of the residents are elderly. Apparently the Israel Post sees the residents of Haifa as transparent residents who can be underestimated and no one compensates here
