First record of a dolphin with scars from a shark attack in Israel
For the first time in Israel, a dolphin was located that was attacked by a shark. The dolphin with the attack scars on it, was located and photographed by the researchers of the Morris Kahan Marine Research Station of the Leon Charney School of Marine Sciences at the University of Haifa.

Dolphin survey
As part of a long-term ecological study of the local dolphin population, Haifa University researchers in collaboration with the Ashdod Center for Education and Marine Sports are conducting a routine dolphin survey off the Ashdod coast. In November 2019, researchers identified a dolphin tagged with number 1359, about three meters long. When they spotted him again a few weeks ago, they were surprised to find jagged scars on the sides of his body. After delving into the photos they took and even consulting with experts from around the world, they all determined that these are scars that come from a shark attack, and in fact, the first documentation in Israel of a live dolphin that was attacked by a shark.
Dr. Aviad Sheinin:
In the 20 years I have been researching the dolphin population in Israel I have yet to see evidence of a dolphin being attacked by a shark. We will continue to monitor the dolphin population in order to understand whether this is an unusual attack event or a new phenomenon.

The attacker: a thresher shark or a thresher shark
According to Dr. Scheinein, Head of the Super Predator Department at the Maurice Kahn Station at the Leon Charney School of Marine Sciences at the University of Haifa, according to the analysis of the scars and the shark species recorded in our area, some researchers estimate that this was an attack by a thresher shark, ranging in length of 3-4 meters or a gray thresher shark, which can reach a length of about five meters, but he emphasized that it is not possible to determine with certainty the species of the attacking shark from the shape of the scar.
First time we see something like this in Israel
According to Dr. Sheinin, studies in the world regarding these two species of sharks have found that they attack and hunt dolphins, but during his 20 years of research in Israel he has not seen any evidence of this.
Dr. Sheinin:
In areas where large sharks such as bull sharks or tiger sharks live, we see many dolphins with scar marks. The fact that here, in Israel, we have so far not identified a single dolphin with scars, led us to think that there are no - or almost no - such attacks. The new testimony obliges us to check whether this is an isolated case or a new phenomenon.

Any news that begins with the words 'found for the first time in Israel' is important news, if not for all readers, then for the curious among them. For example like me. Note that the results of the encounter between the shark and the dolphin remain mysterious.
The dolphin remains scratched and alive and who knows what the condition of the blue shark's jaw and teeth is. Maybe learned a lesson? Allow me to give you some knowledge about the ability of dolphins to form an observant and defensive group as long as the rare phenomenon repeats itself. We humans have a clear preference for the mammal dolphins who have a deceptive smile as if they like those who dive near them and must pet them.
What is the purpose of the research, not really understood, what exactly would be the contribution if a dolphin was attacked by a shark or not? If so and if not, what will it give us?
Wow, the most intelligent question..
But in the same way you can find many different studies and occupations that filter water. why? They will come up with some story for you...
In my opinion, the dolphins, who by nature are not dangerous to humans, should be separated from the sharks. It might be worth exploring how this can be done for the benefit of all concerned. Maybe cause the dolphins to be attracted by something they like and thus, later on they will learn to concentrate on these places.
Tuna fish and a sea free of nylons and plastic!!
That everyone in the house will not use plastic and then it is for the benefit of nature!
The closure definitely showed it!
Yaakov the shark is making nonsense again? ??♂️
Jacob the Carish is an unexpected shark?
???????Ludmila?????
Which dolphin adores him/I'm sure it's a dolphin
We are all dolphins with scars from six sharks..
But here's what beauty nothing will stop us not even those who think they're sharks?.
?????????????????????
