'Budgetary privileges granted to us have been blocked' | Yaffe Nof's CEO reports to suppliers about stopping work and delaying payments

The tragedy at the Yaffe Nof company, which was the flagship corporation of the Haifa municipality, is exacerbating

The Yaffe Nof company has frozen all works, including the cable car works and the port connections

CEO of Yaffe Nof, Sally Glitzenstein, ordered on Sunday this week (18/10/20), to freeze all work in the company, due to the inability to pay suppliers, in order to avoid further damage to the projects and to prevent future damage. Among the works that were frozen, the cable car works and port connections, with the exception of Matron Nesher - this project is now being continued, as it is in the midst of drainage works and its freezing is a danger.

In the letter issued by the company on Tuesday 20/10/20 to the contractors, it announces that there may be delays in payments of current accounts to some suppliers. These delays are due to the fact that, according to the company, no professional reference was received from the Ministry of Transportation regarding the date of the termination of the "separation" agreement and the transfer of the projects to the managing companies.

Address of the letter:

Letter to contractors

From the notebook Yaffe Nof delivered to Lai Pa:

As you know, the Director General of the Ministry of Transportation has committed that the projects will be transferred to his office by August 2, 2020. Bifa Nof is waiting almost four months for the projects to be transferred, and this after the company has fulfilled all its obligations.

The company continued to manage the projects to prevent future damage and waste of public funds. However, since no professional reference was received from the Ministry of Transportation for the completion date and to avoid further damage to the projects, an instruction was given on Sunday to freeze all works. This is a reasonable and professional step to protect the projects. Only a fair and proper agreement with the Ministry of Transport can lead to a solution to the crisis and these days the Director General of the Ministry of Transport is supposed to announce his decision on the matter.

  1. Haifa's flag - yes if it is the flag of corruption and waste of the city's budget
A cable car that we claimed would cost NIS 200 million and we are already at NIS 350 million
The cable car will never return the investment in it and therefore no private entity was interested in operating it in the tender they did. So much so that they will again have to cancel essential bus lines to the campuses in order to force students to travel by diluting the frequency of bus lines to the campuses (a letter came out from Yaffe Nof principal Leona Yahav who is known to have destroyed the fast buses to Kiryat on the Matroni path).
This cable car is the stupidest thing this city has invested in. Expensive to operate, dangerous to operate, expensive to maintain, does not transport students within the campuses and in general just stupid transportation. Suitable for a stupid company like Yaffe Nof.
Sally, look for another job, this corporation should be shut down once and for all for its corruption.

    • I don't know where you get your quote from. A typical reaction for those who do nothing. I worked for the company for 14 years, we changed Haifa both private and public transportation. I was not exposed to corruption, but the reaction of people like you who opposed Route 6 to the train to Jerusalem, the Carmel tunnels, I met, listened and we continued on the path of innovation, doing out of faith. Thanks to the professional managers of Yaffe Nof, we have made the basics of growth possible. Shabbos Shalom
