The Minister of Defense, Benny Gantz, arrived this morning for a working meeting with the Mayor of Haifa, Einat Kalish Rotem.
The meeting was held at the municipality's crisis management center and was also attended by the director of the security department, Yair Zilberman, the deputy chief of staff, Major General Eyal Zamir, and the commanders of the Home Front Command.
Return Haifa to green
The Minister of Defense received an overview of the state of corona morbidity in the city and the moves that the municipality is leading, together with the Home Front Command, to reduce the number of patients and return Haifa to a green city status.

Haifa is a special, important and central city. I get the impression that important work is being done here to eradicate the disease. We are entering 2021 and I don't see the corona virus going away from here. She will continue to accompany us. Vaccination, even if there are optimistic signs about it - is a long process.

We thank you for visiting Haifa. Our goal as a local authority is not to hand out reports but to harness the residents in the fight against Corona, and this is where the idea of the neighborhood loyalists was born, to which over two hundred Haifa residents mobilized within days. A beautiful painting - a particularly exciting gift
During his visit, Gantz received from the mayor of Haifa, a special and particularly moving gift: a painting called
"The Brotherhood of the Six Religions in Haifa", the work of the Haifa painter Dan Livni.
The painting shows Haifa, a port city, located on a mountain, with the sea at its foot, with other important sites in the city also appearing in it. And of course, the symbols of the six religions, living side by side for many years, as a symbol of the coexistence and brotherhood that so characterizes Haifa, between all religions.

Dear Rafi Rafoul - with all due respect for the visit and the words of etiquette that are important, one should always remember that the important and central role of the mayor is to allow life to continue and not to stop it. Enough to freeze residential construction in the Carmel Ridge, enough to trample on the property rights of thousands of citizens and trample on their right to a roof over their heads. Enough with all the stories and reviews. That's not how you run a city. In the kindergarten, the child is given a good grade and complimented for every small step - we are not in the kindergarten, we are after a construction freeze of over 52 years, enough with the humiliation. If Ms. Klish is not able to allow the construction to be realized immediately, the door is open, and she can just leave.
