Despite the lockdown and the limited lineup, they do not give up an impressive and festive design for the holiday table
Who would have believed that after celebrating Passover at Zoom, four family members would sit around the holiday table this holiday as well?
Rosh Hashanah, when the table wears a holiday and the heart wishes that "a new year will begin and its blessings" will again sit almost alone.
Despite this, I'm not giving up on the holiday table! Rosh Hashanah is a holiday that creates a sense of longing for roots and family, a holiday that symbolizes a new beginning. So, in spite of everything, we will not give up the symbols of the holiday and hope that next year we will not count migrating or lonely birds, but we will all sit together again, as is the best tradition, and join in the strength and bringing our hearts together again.
Innovation, luxury and style
The holiday table is one of the most prominent things on Rosh Hashanah and holidays in general, just like the new clothes or the cooking. Even if you are not great designers by nature, with a little investment and inspiration you too can design a festive and impressive table, which will make your Rosh Hashanah much more special and festive.
Exit to the King's Road
For a clean and impressive look, I like to choose for Rosh Hashanah the colors white and silver, as the color of mercury. For me, these shades convey a sense of flow towards the new year, emphasizing the tradition of the Jewish people.
This year, in addition to white and silver, I decided to also add gold and black, which will symbolize the departure from the black to the king's way and to the path of abundance that the gold symbolizes.
to connect with nature and the signs of the holiday
To connect the design of the table to Rosh Hashanah, I like to connect with nature and signs. You can use the symbols of the holiday: apples, dates and pomegranates will fit perfectly into the table design. In the same way, an arrangement of cinnamon and candles can become impressive and unique accessories.
Do it yourself
There are quite a few options for decorating the holiday table, with impressive dishes and festive tablecloths, and you can, on top of the white and silver, combine any color you connect with.
You don't have to spend a lot of money
Sometimes I frame the plate with a wreath of leaves, instead of spending a lot of money on placement:
On a thin iron wire, leaves from the garden, small Chinese oranges or field flowers are threaded. You can buy satin ropes or ribbons in Sidkai stores or Maxstock, which create an elegant atmosphere. You don't have to spend a lot of money at a time like this. You can also place a colored paper napkin under the plate, which gives additional presence to the table decoration.
An impressive map at a bargain price
An important and central element at the table is the map. Usually the price is very high in stores, so here's a tip that I've been applying for years and recommending to my clients: go down to Hadar, yes, it still exists, and in Siddiq stores buy a scrap of fabric that you like, according to the size of the table or more, and on it the whole setting will be built and at a completely sane price.
There are countless fabrics and types, and during the holiday a satin tablecloth will always give off an elegant and luxurious look, compared to the linen which will give off something more rustic and folk, according to the style you choose. The fabrics can be cut at the end as an extension with "zig zag" scissors and after all you have saved the tailor again and also, you won't have heartache when the wine spills and stains the tablecloth.
Another one of the designed tables designed with great talent and with a lot of creativity and beauty by the amazing Gabi Katz. Lightly, with a smile and patience, a wonderful creation emerges from her hands. What a beautiful holiday we could have had around such a table. The corona virus has disrupted it a bit, but we'll be back in a big way and take tips from the design
