From the Leo Buck Community Center and the Ohel Avraham Church of the Leo Buck Education Center, join together to establish Sukkat Shalom. To the Sukkah are invited Ushpizin - Jewish and Arab guests, the children of the Leo Buck Kindergartens and the Arab Preschool Center of the Leo Buck Community Center.
In the Leo Buck Kindergartens, Haifa's being a mixed city is addressed where it is appropriate that the children learn to celebrate together.
The Sukkot Shalom event is one of the many projects and events that are run at the Leo Bak community center, which enable the residents of the neighborhood to meet together with the other communities of the community center: kindergarten families, Jewish and Arab populations from the sports center and families from the Ethiopian community, residents of Neve David and Sprintzak, joined by residents of Wadi Nisnas who are active in the Sawa branch for children from the Arab sector operated by Matens Leo Buck.
Setting up Sukkot Shalom and inviting both Jewish and Arab guests has already become a tradition in Leo Buck. At Leo Bak this year they will also build a Sukkot of Shalom and as a guest-guest, Jews and Arabs, the kindergarten children of Leo Bak and their parents are invited. Together they will celebrate Sukkot and Eid al-Adha - the holiday of the sacrifice. The participants in the festive project are the Ohel Avraham Synagogue, the community center, the Arab preschool center of the Leo Buck Community Center, Beit Lagdol Tov - a club for toddlers that is a branch of the Leo Buck Community Center, and the soldiers of the volunteer year of service from the Leo Buck Community Center.
Tova Gilat, spokeswoman for the Leo Buck Education Center: Leo Buck believes that education for religious dialogue between Jews and Arabs should begin at an early age.
Many actions are taken at the Leo Buck Community Center to assimilate this dialogue. The Peace Tabernacle as well as the Jewish-Arab summer camp that takes place in the summer are examples of the opportunities that the Leo Buck Education Center creates for a meeting of pleasure and constant dialogue between diverse populations.
This year, the Reform Center for Religion and State brings to the Tabernacle of Peace the show based on Leah Goldberg's story "An Apartment for Rent" and dealing with neighborly relations. The play will be performed in Hebrew and Arabic, to enable an educational and respectful meeting for both Jewish and Muslim parents and children, befitting a common city.
