Transferring ownership of a car online - online without going to the post office • starting 12/05/20

Transferring car ownership online

The digital revolution in government: Today, Tuesday 12/5/20, a revolutionary new service was launched, enabling the transfer of ownership of a vehicle online in a simple, fast and efficient way. This service, of the Ministry of Transportation and the Government ICT Authority, has appeared in the personal government area mygov and enables the transfer of car ownership from the seller to the buyer, without leaving the house and without going to the post office.

The service allows any car owner to register in the government personal area and in a simple and quick process to transfer ownership of a car to any other citizen. The process requests approval from the seller and the buyer, transfers the seller to make the fee payment online and performs the actual transfer.

At any stage, any of the parties can withdraw from the transaction if the details do not correspond to the transaction in question. The process is carried out in a secure, easy and simple way and is available to every citizen registered in the personal area in mygov.

This service joins personal information and other services of the Ministry of Transportation in the personal area: list of vehicles you own, renewing a vehicle license, vehicle details file, updating vehicles with a disabled badge, additional services such as online theory tests and more are planned later.

Minister of Transportation Bezalel Smotrich:

This is an innovative and groundbreaking service in the public service. Instead of going to the post office to transfer ownership of the vehicle, the seller and buyer can make the transfer online, anytime, anywhere. At the end of a short operation, the owner of the new vehicle receives the updated vehicle license to the email address, all in a simple, reliable and available procedure.

Head of the Government ICT Authority, Shahar Bracha:

This is another significant step in the digital revolution in government services. The Government ICT Authority, in close and fruitful cooperation with the Ministry of Transportation, made a significant leap forward in the digital service provided to citizens. This is another service that joins many other services in the government's personal area, which were created out of the needs of citizens and make it possible to perform many actions with the government online without leaving home. The Government ICT Authority continues to promote an innovative service concept for the benefit of public service while cooperating with the various government ministries.

Tzur Aharon Director of the Digital and Information Technologies Division at the Ministry of Transportation:

The move joins a series of innovative actions that have been carried out and are being carried out for the benefit of improving the service to the citizen and is a leap forward in imparting the ability to carry out actions independently by the citizen through online means. This service is groundbreaking and innovative because it allows an online transaction between two people. By operating this service, the Ministry of Transportation is leading the digital journey to improve service to the citizen.
