The Lev Hesh association operates all the time, all year round, distributing food to the needy, according to lists that are forwarded to the association from the Haifa municipality's welfare department. The association has 200 volunteers, who are the main force in the field. The association has a volunteer board of directors and a number of paid employees, who work around the clock these days.

This year, during the Corona crisis, the number of applications from needy families, who are not widely known, is huge. Up to this moment, 5,000 packages have already been distributed to families.

The packages are divided into 2. Most holiday packages include prepared food. These packages will be distributed on Tuesday. The packages are a donation from catering companies, who pass on donations they cook for the association. The Lev Hesh Association is sending a truck to collect the donations. The food is stored in refrigerators for meat, milk as well as dry food storage units.

One team prepares the packages and several teams go around with private vehicles of volunteers and distribute the food and packages throughout the city.
The volunteers undergo briefings, both regarding the distribution of food and regarding the protection required during the Corona period.

Protection instructions:

Every volunteer must protect himself with a mask and gloves, from the moment he arrives at the association, which means that all the products that the volunteers touch, in fact receive minimal contact. The dispensers do not enter the warehouse area at all, but wait outside, in order to create minimal contact.
Everyone who arrives is registered in the system, including the vehicle number, in order to have supervision and follow-up, in case there is a suspicion of infection.
