The construction of the new promenade in Bat Galim has begun

Yona Yahav, Mayor of Haifa: "Bat Galim Promenade creates a real and natural connection of Haifa to the waterfront and its beach, a connection that has been prevented until now by the navy bases and the railroad."

The Municipality of Haifa has begun the construction of the Bat Galim Promenade, which will begin at the entrance to the Navy base and continue along the entire seafront of Bat Galim, and will connect to the Promenade at Shekmona Beach. The first phase of the Bat Galim Promenade is part of the 'Rambam Wraparound Road' project, which is being carried out by Jaffa Nof JV at a cost of approximately NIS 21 million. The project includes the construction of a two-way road open to the public around the entire perimeter of the Rambam Medical Center in Haifa, infrastructure upgrades Water, sewage, electricity and lighting, landscape development and the establishment of a promenade along the beach. The completion of the project will be completed within a year.

Yona Yahav, Mayor of Haifa: "Bat Galim Promenade creates the true and natural connection of Haifa to the waterfront and its beach, a connection that has been prevented until now by the navy bases and the railroad. The construction of the Bat Galim boardwalk completes a sequence of boardwalks, walking and bicycle paths, and seating areas along Haifa's beaches. The construction of the boardwalk symbolizes a historical and urban change, as part of which the naval bases are vacated from the Bat Galim neighborhood and neighborhood and tourist development along Haifa's waterfront is possible."

The first phase of the Bat Galim Promenade, the construction of which began these days, is along the north side of Margolin Wharf to the helipad of the Rambam Medical Center, in this section a pedestrian promenade and a bicycle path will be built.

The boardwalk is located along the beach and overlooks the sea and the activities of the sailing club. Today this view is blocked by various buildings and is mostly used as a parking lot. Along the southern 150 m, a coastal garden will be built, which includes an expansion of the boardwalk made of wooden planks, a shaded sitting area, in front of which is a grass area, coastal vegetation and sitting areas adjacent to the sea rock.

Along the boardwalk, above the sailing club area, a circular observation deck will be built, made of wooden planks. In front of the quiet beach, there will be an entrance plaza paved with a unique flooring that includes the 3 existing old trees, a wooden beach wall and a ramp for disabled access.

The boardwalk connects in the east to the existing sidewalk of the navy base, and in the west it will connect to the boardwalk that will be built along the sea front of the navy training base in Bat Galim.
The Margolin Wharf Promenade and the continuation along the front of the beach will join the series of promenades and the bike path, which are located south of the Bat Galim neighborhood as part of the southern arm of the Allenby Interchange and Surfers' Beach and the Shekmona Beach Promenade and Hecht Park.

The Rambam Wraparound Road project, which Yaffe Nof recently began to carry out, is divided into two main road sections. The first section, on Efron St. in Bat Galim, from the second Aliya intersection to the helipad of the Rambam Medical Center, is based on the expansion of an existing road, which today Part of it is one-way, two-way. For the purpose of widening the road on Efron Street, part of the Haifa Navy base will be evacuated. This section will be completed by the end of August this year.

The second section of the project is Margolin Street - Bat Galim's waterfront, from the helipad, through the back gate of the Rambam Medical Center to Zim Square at the entrance to Bat Galim in Haifa. As part of this section, infrastructure systems will be upgraded, part of the road will be widened from one-way to two-way, A path for cyclists, landscape development works will be carried out and a pedestrian promenade will be built with a combination of wooden planks and seating areas along the promenade, which will extend parallel to the coastline, the quiet beach and the sailing club.

The Rambam Wraparound Road project, financed by the Haifa Municipality at a cost of approximately NIS 21 million, will be completed by the end of March next year.
