In a ceremony held on Thursday, 20/02/2020, at the Jabotinsky Institute in Tel Aviv,
Minister of Science and Technology Ofir Akunis awarded Zeev Jabotinsky scholarships
to 11 for PhD and post-doctorate students in the fields of engineering and applied science
And with a total budget of about NIS 5 million and the Haifa scientist is: Michael Gerasimov.
Michael Gersimov from Haifa was selected as one of the 11 young scientists from Israel who received a scholarship named after Jabotinsky to support his scientific research. For the second year, the Ministry of Science awarded scholarships named after Jabotinsky worth 5 million NIS. Each researcher will receive approximately 500 thousand shekels for research in the fields of science and engineering.
The scholarships named after Zeev Jabotinsky, each of which amounts to approximately 460,000 for a period of four years, allow students on a direct path to a doctorate to focus on their research in the fields of engineering and applied science. The scholarships were awarded in the presence of Ran Bar, Director General of the Ministry of Science and Gideon Michnik, Director General of the Jabotinsky Institute.
Jabotinsky Scholarships are awarded for the second year to students pursuing a PhD in the fields of science and engineering with the aim of helping researchers in the fields of science and engineering to continue their research which is a contribution to the development of the fields of engineering and science in the State of Israel. Among the fellows chosen this year is Michael Gerasimov from Haifa.

Michael Gerasimov's research deals with the development of a system based on artificial intelligence for the design of an optical modulator to accelerator converter. Michael Gerasimov studies at Ariel University. Michael Gerasimov:
I am very excited about the scholarship I received for research. It is research that is all about innovation. No one in the world has done anything similar, and the downside is that I don't have the references with which to compare. Also on another research topic that I have a touch on and that is the control of the accelerator by artificial intelligence, almost nothing has been done in the world.
Minister of Science and Technology Ofir Akunis, who initiated the Jabotinsky scholarships for advanced engineering fields last year, awarded Gafen Livna with the scholarship and said: "The scholarships that I put into practice are possible thanks to the record budgets of the Ministry of Science and Technology under my leadership in recent years. We help the outstanding, just as we make science and technology accessible to all citizens of Israel everywhere in the country. To Jabotinsky's five MMMs we can add a sixth M - a scholarship . One of them was awarded with joy, honor and pride to a birch vine that contributes in its unique way to the development of the fields of science and innovation."
CEO of the Jabotinsky Institute, Gideon Michnik: "This is the second year in which the Ministry of Science and Technology, headed by Minister Ofir Akunis, is implementing the "Jabotinsky Law" in an original way and commemorating the work of one of the greatest Zionist leaders. Ze'ev Jabotinsky was a visionary and a man of action, who besides being the head of Beitar was the creator of the battalions Hebrews, thinker, poet, journalist, translator and "startipst" in his own way. Since we see the scholarship recipients as part of the "leaders of science in the future" and an influential and important factor in science today, we welcome the initiative of the Minister of Science to commemorate Jabotinsky in such a significant way while "connecting" the image and vision of Zev Jabotinsky to the scientists of the present and future.
