Nahal HaGivoriv in Haifa - what is really there? A filmed and embarrassing tour

The people of Haifa need a city park. This deep stream, in the heart of Haifa, piqued my curiosity. A decade ago, the river underwent severe scenic abuse, when the giant interchanges of the Grand Canyon and the Nahal HaGivori road were built over it. As part of the construction, a full restoration of the area was not carried out, as required by such a significant transportation project.
In 2013 Haifa Municipality announced the launch of the project (which turned out to be fake news), for turning the stream into an extreme park. Later, an artificial lake will be dug in the place, which is planned to store the rainwater flowing in the stream.
And since then the stream has remained an embarrassing stain in the heart of the city - watch!

Watch: The Stream of Heroes - a video tour

Haifa Municipality refuses to comment:

I contacted the Haifa municipality requesting a response regarding the future of the river, its restoration and its transformation into a city park. I also asked them about the safety hazards faced by travelers in the place, among them groups of teenagers, who want to find a quiet and intriguing corner in the heart of the city.
The Haifa municipality refused, of course, to comment.
I can only hope that the new Haifa municipality will come to its senses and fix what is happening there, for the benefit of the Haifa public.

  1. Thank you for an important and interesting article. If the place is intriguing and exists, we only need to take care of it for the well-being of all of us soon in these days, Amen. Miriam

  2. "The municipality of Haifa refused, of course, to comment"...
Yaron, what happened to the old ending of "The municipality of Haifa has not yet responded to this article. Its response will be published when received", has given up completely?

    Thanks for the article!
    my son

  3. Also refer to Yona Yahav who announced "Haifa's Central Park", we will hear what he has to say, but only about what was while he ruled here

  4. Liron, very important article. Excellent photographs - in the hope that this article will reach the public's awareness of the beautiful treasure that is right inside the city. The vapors of the heroes touch many neighborhoods, and if they open the place and there is reasonable accessibility and safety, then we will all benefit from it.
A kind of central park of Haifa.
    A note about the replacements:
At the time I thought there was no place for such a tunnel. in Haifa. It was likely that the tunnel would go from the check post to the Carmel beach. And so it was designed. I think with a little effort you could build most of these complicated interchanges inside the mountain and exit and enter the tunnel in one place.

  5. They also drove the pigs to Moria and also defiled and destroyed them.

  6. The main thing is that they eliminated the only urban range that was in Nahal HaGivori and without an alternative range

  7. Well done for the initiative and for making the photos and videos from Huadi available.

  8. Bless you dear Yaron
What a great and relevant article
There are several other places in Carmel that should be written about
Like Nahal Bustan west of Dalit El Carmel
And Nahal Harubim south of Dalia..
    Be strong and courageous
    Nabil HaHolacham in Carmel

  9. In Haifa they only specialize in destroying nature, bringing down mountains in Vardia and Almogi and neglecting other places for the glory of the city. In a few years there will be no green left in the city at all - except for Maccabi
