The luxurious cruise ship arrived this morning, 19/01/20, at the port of Haifa, for the third year in a row, and will dock until tomorrow at 22:00. The ship is the only cruise ship in the world that operates a transatlantic route in the cruise category.

The British cruise ship is on a 113-day world voyage. The ship left New York on January 3rd and after stopping at the ports of Southampton, Lisbon and Sicily, arrived in Haifa for two days, from here it will continue through the Suez Canal, on its way to the next round of the world. The 2 QUEEN MARY is a very large ship with a length of 345 meters, 150,000 tons and mainly an unusual draft of 10.2 meters, therefore anchoring at the container dock and not at the cruise terminal.
The ship belongs to the mythical cruise company CUNARD, which has been in existence since 1840 as a passenger ship company, which has dozens of ships in its history. Today the company owns 3 ships:
- Queen Victoria
- • Queen Elizabeth
- • Queen Mary.
- The Queen Mary is the largest ship of all.

The ship's agent in Israel is AMA Shipping. The ship opens a new and promising cruise year for the port of Haifa. After a dramatic increase of 150% in the rate of tourists arriving in Haifa in 2019, another 2020% increase in the rate of tourists arriving in Haifa by sea is expected in 40. A total of 295,000 Israelis and tourists on international cruises from and to Haifa are expected to pass through the passenger terminal at the Haifa port this year.
Today we have the Queen, tomorrow we will host three cruise ships here, including the MSC OPERA. A busy year ahead but we are ready for it. There is no doubt that the dramatic increase in the number of tourists arriving at the port of Haifa is good for the Israeli economy in general, and the tourism industry in particular
Zohar Rom, Director of Tourism and Cruises at Haifa Port:
QUEEN MARY 2, is the only passenger ship that operates as a liner that crosses an ocean, as opposed to the routes of cruise ships. The name of the ship was given by Queen Elizabeth II in 2, as a continuation of the first ship QUEEN MARRY of 2004, which was named after Mary, the mistress of King George IV. The ship's transatlantic route ranges from Southampton in England to New York in the USA.

The facilities and services on the ship include 15 restaurants and bars, five swimming pools, a casino, a ballroom, a theater and the first planetarium at sea.
